Hi every one i hope you're all doing great
Well i am here to ask for your opinion about what am about to do for my weight loss
So basically my eating habits kept me at a weight of 73 kgs sometimes i go up to 76 kgs but never more for the last 4 years and since i am not a dieting person i decided to do a portion control but eating what i eat every day without changing the quality of my food i will also add exercise which is either a 40 to 60 minutes walk or a 30 minutes HIIT workout 5 to 6 times a week .
Just for the record i do not take sugar with my coffee and i don't eat sugary stuff a lot sometimes i take them once each 2 weeks or so and i do not drink soda too
So it is basically our daily food that we cook from scratch and oh I am Algerian so our food is a lot diffrent than other cultures.
I hope you got what i want to say because my ideas are all over the place right now !!

Mmm, Algerian food looks lovely. Just make sure you log your meals right. With all the sauces etc. be very precise, it might be a pain to log them right, but it can be done.
As for your exercise, easy it in. Don't do all at once, it will be too much and you might get discouraged. Start with 4 days moderate exercise and see how it goes.
The most accent should be put on your diet - nutrition, eat good food in caloric deficit.
It's great you don't have a sweet tooth, that will help with your weight loss.1 -
From the little info provided it sounds okay. You are dropping calories and adding exercise but you don't say how much you plan to cut your portions so it's impossible to tell if the plan is overly aggressive or not. Since you were eating at maintenance before the result would have to be weight loss.
Since you are adding in new exercise you may gain some water weight in the first couple of weeks so don't panic if that happens.2 -

thank you so much for the info about the workout well for my portions i go a little crazy when there is some foods i like sometimes rather than eating one bowl i would eat 2 so i am trying to remove that habit of asking for more

In essence, you have no idea how many calories you are currently eating to maintain 73kg, you have no idea how many calories you burn daily or with exercise, you have no idea how many calories you need to eat to lose weight, you have no idea how fast you are going to lose weight, and you have no goal set.
I think that will work for a while initially. Honestly, every time I have seen people go at it like this they get early results, then stop getting results, have no idea why, get frustrated, and quit.
From what I have seen, the people that get real results are the ones that set reasonable goals, come up with a solid plan to achieve the goals, execute the plan, and collect some data to measure progress and troubleshoot along the way.
I'm not trying to be harsh, but I'm just being honest. Most people that go at it haphazardly do not succeed over time. There are always the exceptions and I hope you are one!0 -
If you have been maintaining your weight, and your intent is to lose weight by eating as you have been but adding in more exercise: it should work. Assuming you actually do continue to eat the same. The tendency with increased activity though is increased hunger, so you may eat more. Being aware of your portions can help.
If your increased activity is something you enjoy doing, that will make it more likely to become something you stick with.0 -
Your plan is fine. As long as you are honest with yourself as far as how much you have been eating, so that you can judge what would be less of it, it can work. You do not have to know your calories eaten in order to lose weight. If you get stuck with weight loss, you can always start counting calories, but at this point you do not need to do so in order to lose weight.1

thank you i appreciate your opinion , for my goals i have about 30 lbs to lose and for time i am giving it all it requires i am not in a hurry and i am not killing my self for it so decreasing a bit what i eat in a day and adding exercise is what's i can stick to1 -

thank you i appreciate your opinion , for my goals i have about 30 lbs to lose and for time i am giving it all it requires i am not in a hurry and i am not killing my self for it so decreasing a bit what i eat in a day and adding exercise is what's i can stick to
Understood. I am 100% behind picking a moderate goal and changing your lifestyle versus crash dieting. I'm just suggesting a little more structure. The thing is, by simply "cutting back" and "exercising a little", you really don't know how much weight you will expect to lose.
Making a change is the first step and will work if you stick to it. Just try not to lose too much too fast, and if you see you aren't losing enough, you need to get more diligent. For you, a good healthy rate of weight loss would be between 0.5-0.7kg/wk.0 -
I found that eating what I normally eat is helping me stick to my calorie goals. I haven't restricted anything I just eat less of it and I've lost 30 lbs.
Be sure to log your food.
I think you have a good plan that will be sustainable.2 -

I didn't do it intentionally but this is how I came back to counting calories. June I began just vaguely sprucing up my diet, making sure to eat a vegetable or two with every meal, replacing processed foods with fresh and avoiding junk food almost entirely. It was slow loss but I did lose 10lbs this way. When it slowed down and stopped I realised it had taken me as far as it was going to, and I switched to counting with MFP. I actually found it easier to segue in, as I wasn't making large changes all at once and was already used to increased fresh meal prep and my adjusted choices.0 -

All you have to do is count calories and weigh your food so that you're in a calorie deficit. That's it. I still eat sugar and am losing weight.1 -
