Hi there everyone,

I am looking to connect with anyone else starting out with a weight loss goal of 150lbs. I am making a positive change from day and would love to share ideas and inspiration with others on a similar path. I am doing this naturally hoping to lose with diet and fitness alone and it would be great to hear from similar people!
What diets / approaches are you starting with? And how and when are you introducing fitness?
Hope to make some new friends on here soon

I am looking to lose about 125 lbs. I know for me it seems daunting and I honestly thought I would never be where I am now. I am also wanting to do this with diet and exercise. I actually started in July and was down 26lbs, but in the last 3 weeks have climbed back up by 6 lbs. My goals are to log daily and to exercise at least 30 min per day for 5 days a week. I just started exercising again, I just got over an injury. I think one day at a time is the key.
You can do this, I wish you more than luck, I wish you success!
  • There is a big difference between my goal and your goal. I have still 28 lbs to lose. It Looks like it isn't that much weight to lose, but for me it takes a big effort to lose 1 lbs. Anyway i wish you luck and success during your journey and i would like to be your friend. Have a nice day.

    Hi Lauren!

I have similar goals! I am looking to lose 150 pounds as well. I was thinking today that I wish I knew more people with similar goals. Some of the women I go to the gym with are looking to lose 20-30 pounds, which is so awesome for them! I think I need more people in my life that have a more daunting weight loss goal to overcome. I don't think it means that anyone with a smaller goal should be offended by any means, but it's good to have a mix of people to motivate you who have reached their goals, people who have smaller goals, but also a good mix of support from people who have the SAME goals.

I'll send you a request! Anyone else, feel free to add me! I'm very active on Myfitnesspal, fitbit, and Instagram.

I lost 80 lbs. For me what worked is changing my diet first (nothing drastic - just less sugar, less treats, more fruit, veggies, and lean protein), then I started exercising 2 weeks later - mostly walking and low impact exercises. I worked up from there.

I never picked more than a 500 calorie deficit though (to lose 1 lb a week). but depending on your way of eating you might be fine with a bigger deficit (I was more of a 'snack all day on high calorie stuff' person and never really ate a lot at once, so switching to lower calorie/more filling options worked out fine).

    Hey Lauren,

I have about 120lbs - 130lbs to lose. My current diet is just a well balanced diet with lower carbs.

I've lost 15lbs in just 34 days, haven't had any alcohol! If I have enough calories left at the end of the day then I might have a wee snack bar (mini version). I suppose it is all about portion control and moderation. I would recommend trying food that you've may not normally have eaten such as couscous (lower carbs than pasta or rice), brown rice and occasional pieces of bread.

I am unable to make it to a gym at the moment but I do attend a fitness class once a week, I'll be increasing this in December/January, as my husband is currently working away from home and I have a small baby. Once he is back then it will be time to up my fitness to another level. So for now, it's mostly been walking and home workout videos. I would highly recommend the Biggest Loser videos with Jillian Michaels, they are designed for bigger people who may not have exercised in a while. I exercise at least 4-5 times a week.

I won't lie to you, it will hurt a lot for the first few months because you'll be using muscles that have not been worked out for a long time and your knees will be sore from squats & lunges however you can combat this through exercise with less impact e.g swimming & aqua jogging!!!

I have a very long way to go but I'm off to a great start and have an awesome support network with the MFP community, my husband, family and friends. It's important for you to surround yourself with people who know what you are going through, who can bring you up and not drag you down.

I previously lost 95lbs but then managed to get pregnant and finally got my son who is now 6 months old. I regained all that weight but I did help & inspire my Mum to lose 70kgs/150lbs so I know I can do this again for myself and my family.

I've sent you a friend request and I'm happy to add others too, you can never have enough friends on this journey!!!

    You can do this!!!!!

    Cheers

    Orla
