I have ibs and i stay away from gluten, grains, and legumes. It helps but doesn't make it go away entirely. It depends what kind of ibs you are dealing with. I have a problem with trapped gas, severe bloating and pain.0

I have celiac disease so I just avoid all grains. It's easier. I also limit my sugars, fruits and raw veggies because they tend to cause stomach upset or constipation.0

Have you been actually diagnosed or are you assuming based on something you read? The reason I ask is most diagnostic tests for gluten intolerance require you to actually be eating gluten for the test to be accurate. Get tested BEFORE you eliminate it.1

I had a doc tell me to try gluten free for my IBS and it didn't help all that much since gluten isn't the issue. You should try the low fodmap diet to help you identify your triggers. It's possible to still eat wheat in most cases, just in smaller amounts. Going gluten free just cost me alot of money and I was sensitive to some of the additives in gluten free foods as they usually have more sugar and junk.0

BTW you should be checked for a wheat allergy or celiac disease before going gluten free to see if you really even need to..0

I have celiac disease and find that sugar and junk in my diet is only an issue when I eat packaged/prepared foods instead of cooking my own food. That also doesn't affect the cost of eating as much as buying a basket full of food with "gluten free" on the label.Recipes have gotten gradually better over the past 10 yrs -1

^This. I have IBS and gluten free wasn't the answer as it wasn't the problem.
OP, have you been officially diagnosed, though?0 -
I had a blood test carried out for food intolerance it come back positive to Gluten. I would need to have a blood test for Ceoliac disease. I was tested about 14 years ago and it was negative but maybe things have changed since then.0
