Uncontrollable hunger

I have been at this for over a year now and I have never been this hungry before. This isn't like that time of the month where I get hungrier. I am constantly hungry and when I do eat I'm not getting satisfied. I constantly eat every two hours. This urge to eat all
The time just started about two weeks ago. The only thing I have done differently is I started running again and I have been eating a lot more fruit. I did P90X for awhile and that made me hungrier but not like this. I stopped doing it because Its very time consuming. Some nights I wouldn't get to bed until 1. The lack of sleep finally took it's toll on me. Ive researched it and all I can boil it down to is I'm consuming too much fruit as some of it ranks high on the glycemic index or I'm not getting certain nutrients. I honestly think I eat pretty good. I think if anything I could eat a bit more protien. I'm so close to my goal weight and never had this problem. Has anyone else ever experienced this? Any advice or suggestions? I will open my diary if anyone wants to take a look. I need advice please

Yup. Protein, namely boneless skinless chicken breast, is the only thing that seems to quell my cravings. I try to eat two servings/day. I limit my fruit and sugar intake. Usually I only have a banana, an apple or some dark chocolate to satisfy the sweet-cravings. Also, coffee or green tea sweetened with stevia helps me big time. They are both good for metabolism and the stevia tastes sweet. Staying hydrated also does wonders.

Only thing I can tell you is protein makes you feel fuller, longer. If you feel your protein is low, you should up it but still try to remain low fat.0

Fiber will also help you to stay feeling full longer. You should be consuming between 25-40 grams per day.0

Protein. If you are running a lot and working out you should get a lot of protein, otherwise you will feel hungry. 1g per pound of body weight. Good luck.0

Fiber + water, protein, healthy fats. Also try drinking tea or brushing your teeth/using mouthwash if you feel like what seems like hunger might be a false alarm.0

Yeah, I've been there.
After looking through a bit of your diary, it looks like you have several days (usually ones where you log exercise) where you're anywhere from a little to a LOT (several hundred calories) under 1200 net for the day. For example, last Sunday you ate about 1400 calories, but you burned 800 in exercise...so your net is 600 calories in for the day. That's way below what you need to function, and if you do that fairly regularly it's not wonder you want to eat everything in sight :-) When I started on here, MFP set me at 1200 net calories per day, and if I didn't get that I'd be STARVING. Actually, even when i was netting 1200 every day I was still starving. You might just need to eat more - and as others have suggested, make sure you're getting enough protein (and fat!) to feel satisfied.
I've started zig-zagging calories (NET 1300 Mon, 1200 Tue, 1600 Wed, 1300 Thur, etc.) so that I AVERAGE about 1300/day through the week, but I NEVER net under 1200 for any single day. I rarely feel starving anymore, and it actually broke me out of a plateau so I've started losing weight again. I should note that I work out every day, so I'm always eating at least 1600-1800 calories per day (that definitely helps keep hunger to a minimum).
Oh, last thing - you don't always log water - are you getting enough? Drinking plenty of water can definitely help, as our bodies sometimes mistake thirst for hunger (so we feel the need to eat when we really just need to drink more water).0 -
How is your stress level right now? Are you an emotional eater? stress=starving for me sometimes, although I have really tried recoginizing it before it gets the best of me.. The day after strength training I am starving as well- Maybe you should just try listening to your body and make the healthiest, most satisfying choices for a little while to see if it passes? I'm constantly under stress but some days are worse then others. I think what i'm going to do is switch up my foods and see how that works for me. I'm honestly beginning to think its all the fruit i'm eating. I need to find more snacks with protein. So I planned out my meals and snacks today and i'm going to see how that works for me. Thank you all for your input.. That's why I love this site because everyone here is so supportive and full of suggestions.0

It seems like it's your snacks that are leaving you unfulfilled in the hunger department... If fruit is your main snack, try pairing it with protein - peanut butter (or other nut butter) and banana, or apple. You could also have a fruit salad with walnuts and sunflower seeds, or just pair eating an orange with a haldful of almonds. nut proteins are healthy, as are the fats in nuts. Obviously, you don't want to be downing a massive bag of them at every snack, but a small number will help curb your cravings. Also, watch the salt intake with that... unsalted is healthier for you, overall.0

Wow, late to the conversation.
I figured I would reply incase someone else is having the same problem.
You mentioned you are eating more fruit. Fruit is good, but it contains fructose. My understanding is that when our body ingest too much of that, we temporarily loose the ability to tell when we are full.
That might be (have been) the problem.
Just an idea.

I find almonds and some hot tea (makes you slow down and drink slow) really help with crazy hunger0
