Confession or cry for help?

I have been eating extremely healthy - pretty close to clean as you can get and exercising at least 3 days a week for 7 weeks. I haven't cheated at all. So anyway last week I started seeing a DQ commercial for a chocoholic blizzard and have not been able to get it off my mind. So I told my partner that when my weekly weigh in came and went I was going to have a mini chocoholic blizzard.
So I had my weigh in and then went str8 to DQ to get my mini blizzard. I know you should not deprive yourself as it can lead to out of control binging. But something I didn't count on was now I can't get the blizzard off my mind and I want anything chocolate, sweet, it just doesn't flippin matter. I haven't given in but wow I just want more and more more and anything and everything.
The joys of being a food-a-holic!

I LOVE chocolate. I keep chocolate cheerios around for the chocolate craving. Plus my daughter loves them as well. I eat about 1 cup full with 1/2 cup almond milk and its so yummy and about 150 or so cals. Way to go with not cheating and sticking to it!! Keep it up!0

I know the feeling. For me I get this once a month during PMS. I can't eat enough food, nothing satisfies me, it SUCKS! I try to exercise more and harder on these days so I don't feel bad when i dip into the treats I want! I have noticed over the past 7 months, the cravings have gotten less and less and can be satisfied with less than when i began the journey with MFP.0

This might sound silly but find something thats chocolate that you dont like and eat it. Like dark chocolate perhaps?0

I find that treats are a slippery slope as well. Sometimes I find it better to just convince myself I don't need the treat, and I rarely plan that "after this happens, I will have this treat as a reward". I find it is much easier to control when they are spontaneous, like a date with my boyfriend and we get dessert or someone bring in homemade goodies at work. It lets me indulge but it's a nice surprise. I rarely keep junk food in my apartment for that reason, I don't want to fall into the trap of eating it too often. Something to think about, let life give you little, delicious surprises!0

Sugar IS addicting so if you aren't tracking it already, do. No more than 10% of your calories from sugar. This might be why your cravings are so bad.
When I have a strong Chocolate craving (usually around TOM for me) I will indulge in a Vita Tops Deep Chocolate Muffin Top (in your grocer's freezer) - pop it in the toaster until the choc. chips melt in it.
OMGoodness - it's delish and only 100 calories.0 -
Next time bike ride or walk/run/jog to the DQ! Then it won't be so bad.0

I have seen that DQ commercial. Good thing we don't have one close or I would be there every day getting that blizzard.0

I have definitely experienced that as well. As soon as I give into my sugar cravings, it takes over my mind. Sugar is like a drug I swear! I'm trying to limit my intake of sugar in all foods and not just chocolate or ice cream alone. Cereal or other high sugar carbs can trigger it for me as well. I have to be very careful!!! When the blizzard comes into your mind immediately capture that thought and replace it with something else.....anything else that's positive. Think about your brother, sister, mama, coworker....whoever or whatever to get it off your mind. Keep doing that until it becomes easier and easier to control It's all in the mind. Whatever you think about eventually you'll act on.....thoughts become your actions and your actions define your character. If you have to try to control something then it already controls you. Don't let this chocoalte DG blizzard control you. Let it go!!!0

When you get a craving... say chocolate... think of what it is you want and how good it would taste. Now think of that same thing with maggots on it, hair and some of the nastiest stuff you can imagine on it. It'll make that craving go right away.0

I keep low-fat pudding cups in the fridge for when I get chocolate cravings BUT yeah, I hear where you're coming from.0

I always have to watch giving in to ice cream as then it is major crave time. I wanted some last week in the store so bad. I kept saying flat belly, flat belly. My daughter is looking at me. I told her if I keep saying that it will remind me that everytime I eat some, my tummy swells up huge. No joke! I like my belly when it is flatter. I won out!!! But it was tough...0

DQ is evil! LoL! I totally agree that once you give in to a weakness, it takes almost superhuman strength to stay away from the bad stuff.
If you like that Blizzard, try Skinny Cow chocolate fudge brownie ice cream cups. They are 150 calories and really good. Good luck to you!0 -
I guess its a good thing that the closest DQ is 1hr 15 min away from my house. I have been drooling over those commercials too! Some days I might hurt someone for a peanut buster parfait!0

The more crap you put in your body the more your body will crave crap.0

I've learned that for any sweet cravings I now have a tablespoon (or 2) of organic blue agave. It definitely satisfies the sugar cravings and doesn't spike the blood sugars. I use it on my low carb pancakes too.
During that TOM if the cravings get simply too much I have a Smart One desert.0 -
totally understand:)) For me.....giving in starts a domino effect. I do allow myself one sweet treat a day. That's just me. It helps me not to go crazy on them bc I know I am getting one small treat at the end of the day...like a mini snickers or mini twix or a chocolate kiss. I also may buy my kids a treat and have a "taste" of theirs, rather than buying my own and feeling like I just HAVE to eat the whole thing. A taste is all I need. Perhaps next time you go....bring a friend and ask for a kids size cup and spoon a little in there. It;s not perfect but it will allow for you to set boundaries for your self and practice not crossing them:)) I think in time you'll get the hang of it:)) Good luck:))0

What a timely thread for me. I had been doing so well and now I find myself binging. I thought I had the "monster" under control and tested my limits. Apparently I'm not doing so well in the choose healthy foods over junk dept. I will get back on track, but I definitely agree with one of the other posters. Deny yourself that "planned" goodie and just spontaneously treat yourself now and again.0

to get rid of the sweet craving, eat a whole pickle. i swear it works.0

if you have a trader joes near you try the 73% dark organic chocolate. I was eating up to 2 squares a day, skipping a day every few, and enjoying it with like a small handful of raw almonds, walnuts or even fresh cherries. hits the spot and oh-so-healthy for us:happy:
I "weaned" myself down to once or twice a week. I just found some dark chocolate frozen banana slices, not as healthy as the pure chocolate but fab I think 4 pieces cost about 120 cals so I just eat 3 and won't eat more than twice per week either. One thing that has really saved me are the tiny mints, either peppermint or cinnamon:glasses:
best wishes for success in all of your endeavors:flowerforyou:0 -
