I was doing great a few months ago. I've stopped going to gym, exercising and eating well. I'm having trouble getting back in to the the routine. And now feeling bad about how I look.

Maybe keep a log of how you feel throughout the day. I realized I really needed to do something when I counted the number of negative thoughts I had about myself throughout the day. It wasn't just about my weight, but it seemed to start there every time.

This is the same as I was feeling too. I just wasn't ready to make the change and get back at it. This weekend I stepped on the scale and realized I gained 10 lbs since I took my break.

My MIL just got a diabetes diagnosis this week and it's given me the kick to start eating better, shed the weight, and get fitter. I want to be healthy as I get older and no one can do it for me.

Maybe think about what first motivated you and try to pull on that again.

Feel free to add me. Take it one day at a time. I just signed up for a complimentary session with a trainer. They had some good things to say. I was down, but based on where I started, I made progress. So could you.

You don't lack motivation, what you lack is discipline. Motivation is what gets you started. Discipline is what keeps you going. Focus on that a bit and put yourself back on track.

Agree and I'm going to add determination

Try not setting your goal as 'to get back on track'. Try setting it as 'to eat at a deficit only for today'.

"You feel bad about how you look.". This is what it boils down to. Self esteem. So, you need something powerful enough to snap you out of it. How about another chance at feeling good about yourself? I don't know how to trigger my brain when I'm in a slump, but I can tell you a story that might help. Basically, I've been bouncing between 180-203 for the past 18 or so years since I had my only kid at 25. I am 43 now. Do you know how bad your self esteem takes a dive, and what a miserable cow you can become under the right circumstances? Do you know how hard it is for your body to get back into a decent shape and maintain it after 40? It feels NEARLY impossible. Maybe this wouldn't bother most people, but I was lucky enough to be fairly attractive from about 18 to 25 at about 125-140 pounds and some pretty blond hair. I had A LOT of guys chasing me during these years. It was amazing and felt great! Do you think that happened after the weight gain? Nope, and its not even about all the men you can have. It is about how great you felt at that age because you were fit and didn't have baggage! Anyway, battling the bulge in my 40's I was able to take off 40 pounds last year as well as gain it all back! So this year, I decided to give it another try. After all, last year I lost 20 lbs in one month with Jillian Michaels 30 day shred, and then the other 20/pounds in the next two months doing it. Surely, I thought that I could do it again. So, last month I did it and lost jack *kitten*. Pissed I was, but I decided to keep going, and now I'm doing FOCUS T25. Just finished the second week today, and I've gotten back down to 182 lbs and losing inches. The gutt is melting away and my face is thinner. Am I going to give up ? F**** no! You know why? Because I have a future where I do not want to be fat, and I have a chance at being happy again. This week I I feel like I woke up from a 25 year coma. I found something I want to perdue. To cut it short, one of the guys that I was totally into, and who was absolutely puppies for me when he was 22, and I was 18 never forgot. I never forgot. We have that on common, and I am taking a vacation to go spend some time with him at his house this winter. I'm old, and he is older, but who gives a crap because we have a connection. Also, I feel great about myself because still working on my fitness, and the weight is going to come off within the next year. I don't have to feel bad about myself because I working on it continuously, and even though I still have abdominal fat, I'm thinning out, and my muscles are looking good. Do I think he's going to reject me because I don't look the same? Jell, no he ain't because he is a man, and its women who are harder on them selves than men are. If you want a future where you can be happy, you better get your groove back and FOCUS on what you want.

You sound so positive. I'm in your shoes. I'm 40. Well 41 tomorrow. And it's just hard to get the body back. I know I keep putting myself down. I'm my worst enemy. Just having trouble kick starting it

Are you in a healthy weight range for your height and do you have no other health issues? If it's just a question of how you look, is it your personal standard for yourself or influenced by images in the media or other messages? Are you conflicted about looking a certain way due to external influence but internally not convinced to go to the gym? Are you being hard on yourself for eating what you like? Maybe when you know why you feel bad about how you look, you could stick to a program that works for you and makes you feel good about yourself.

He is right. It is about a lack of discipline. Work out one simple repetitive menu and stick with it all week. Stay out or restaurants and convenience stores. Avoid rotation and triggers. Discipline and focus will work.
