Eat whatever you like! The only thing that matters for weight loss is a calorie deficit.5

Ice cream is a good option.2

Assuming you don't have a whole meal left in your day, you likely want to go with something calorie dense. Good time for a treat or some nuts or cheese. Or save some of the calories for tomorrow and have a really nice lunch or dinner with dessert. (This is assuming these are exercise calories and you've already eaten more than your BMR today.)2

Peanut butter... and Nutella!2

If you have logged correctly, you should probably eat at least one more good meal. If you still have calories left over, eat anything.1
-
Don't just eat anything. Choose something low carb. Do you body a favor. Steer away from high sugar foods. Eat some protein. It's filling and kills sugar cravings.-1

I've lost 26 pounds since March eating plenty of carbs. OP, eat what you like and enjoy it.2

OP had 1000 calories left over. Eating what she wants is fine. If she wanted to have a cake sandwich, that would be fine.5 -
How many calories do you get to eat!!! Mine only gives me 1,410 I have been eating around 1,000 last few days0
-
I know I have 500 calories left that includes 50% of my exercise calories I'm going to enjoy some pudding and a granola bar2
-
Well what did you eat today? Did you get enough protein? enough fat? base your decision on that. Or just eat.1

Why are people jumping on the person who suggested they eat something nutrient dense instead of something with sugar? You do realize sugar is addictive and activates a part of your brain that makes you crave more carbs and sugar? Yeah eat what you want within those calories, but do your body a favor and not put yourself through that if you are trying to avoid those types of foods on a daily basis. Depends on how their diet is structured.-1

Actually I didn't realize sugar was addictive...as I've never seen a creditable source stating that. Could you link one?6 -

Umm, because that's incorrect. I eat sugar, but never have cravings for it or other carbs. Not sure where you're getting your information, but you may want to choose some more reliable sources to get it from. There's no point in being afraid of, vilifying, or flat out avoiding something when there's no reason to. No point in making weight loss any harder than it already is.3 -

How would one make a cake sandwich? Asking for a friend.............
Thinly sliced pound cake as bread. Mix cake crumbles with frosting and sprinkles and nuts for a "spread" brush the sandwich with butter and put that bad boy on a foreman or Panini press, and BAM. Cake sandwich.
God, with this brain, no wonder I'm fat.7 -

I feel the same way!1 -

If you set MFP up to lose weight with a reasonable rate of loss for your overall goal, then you have a calorie deficit built into that 1410 number, and you should be aiming to hit it, not short it. If you exercise, you should be tracking that and eating back some of those calories as well so that your Net intake is always 1400ish.

Had extra calories today and didn't feel like having dinner, so I just gorged on monkey nuts! It's been a while since I had them. It felt so satisfying. I still have some calories left, but I think I'm gonna save them for some other day.0

Lol right? Doesnt it sound yummy. (Sode note, my dream is to open a bakery)
At an attempt to not derail the thread, OP could even have this if they have 1,000 calories left over. Because while nutrient sense food is great, sometimes, we just need a cake sandwich grilled in butter. Why are people jumping on the person who suggested they eat something nutrient dense instead of something with sugar? You do realize sugar is addictive and activates a part of your brain that makes you crave more carbs and sugar? Sugar is in apples, too. Oh, and in your restaurants salads. Perhaps I should stop eating those as well, because it will mess with my brain and cause me to overeat even those "good for me" foods.
Food, whether it has been labeled as healthy or unhealthy, is not bad for you, pending you have no medical issues. Now, if OP were a diabetic, I wouldn't recommend filling those calories with a cake sandwich, lol. And if they had sarcoidosis, I wouldn't recommend foods that tend to be inflammatory.
We're still waiting for a credible source stating sugar is addictive.3 -
OP how did you find yourself in a situation of having 1000 extra calories? Was it from logging exercise or a Fitbit adjustment or something like that? How confident are you in your overall logging (are you weighing your food with a food scale) and where did the exercise burn estimate come from (if my initial theory that this came from exercise is correct)? Is this a common occurrence or the first time this has happened?
As others have said, if you have calories to spare and have eaten a variety of nutritional foods during the day then there's no reason not to splurge on whatever you fancy. However if you haven't eaten a good mix of foods to help meet nutritional goals you may want to look at your overall day and see if you got enough protein, fat and carbs as well as micronutrients before heading straight for the candy. Also if this is a common occurrence you may want to plan your days better and look to see if you should be eating more during earlier meals so you don't have such a big surplus left.
