In November 2014 I weighed 383lbs. I was sick of being fat, lazy, miserable, and bloated. I started slow but by the end of March 2015 I started my transformation. I lost over 100lbs and started running in January 2016. Running helped my to lose another 77lbs. I began training for a half marathon in August 2016 and ran my half marathon yesterday. I am 40 years old and finished in 1:46:12. My goal was under 2 hours.

Congratulations! What a great finishing time for your first half marathon. Amazing!

I will be training for my first in the next few months but will be happy with somewhere between 2:05-2:15. Short distances are my happy place.

I figure I will try something new for next year (turn 50 in January) and after that I am going to continue to concentrate on 10 km distance and short distance trail running (6-12 km). And of course, my first love of running came from parkrunning every Saturday.

Congratulations. That was a very good result for your first half. I've done four and still can't break 2 hours. Next comes your first marathon?
