Saggy skin...?

I have a good deal of weight I am in the process of losing (down 40 and working on another 60.) I am extremely worried about having overly saggy skin when I am finished. I believe I am right on the brink of being able to tighten up somewhat and having to deal with saggage as well. Any pointers on how to help prevent this from happening? Products to use? I realize some of it is inevitable, but anything I can do now while losing the weight would be good!

I don't have the answers but I would like to know any good hints you get.0

Drink lots of water to help your skin retain it's elasticity, and weight lifting. So far, I'm almost 100 lbs down, no saggy skin (which is a HUGE fear of mine).0

keep your skin hydrated, take fish oil supplements. Unfortunately if your skin won't snap back, it's predetermined and you won't be able to change much, just remember it will tighten over time your skin may not be able to keep up with your weight loss, but it will smooth out over time......0

Lots of water... and try not to lose too fast as this gives your skin less time to snap back. That's what I've heard anyway...0

slow and steady wins the race! i've lost almost 70 pounds and My skin is less saggy than it was before i started working out. strength training, the right food, and lots of water!0

I don't have any pointers, but I share your fear. I find that a quote from a man who lost a significant amount of weight (in excess of the 200's) helps me put that fear into perspective "Saggy skin won't kill you, but fat can." That may not be ver batem, but I really find it helps me drop the anxiety about it quite a bit.0

That is a wonderful quote.0 -
Stay hydrated, take fish oil, and there are lots of lotions that help with skin elasticity, look for titles that include the words toning, firming, or help with cellulite.0

This is my fear! I am so worried about saggy skin! I have lost 82 and don't really have any saggy skin. Lose slowly and drink your water. If you lose a lot of weight quickly, your skin will not have a chance to keep up with you and it will sag. I have a friend who lost about 30 and has really saggy skin because they lost it so quickly. I do a lot of strength training and I think that has really helped. Good luck!0

Lots and lots and lots of lotion...find a lotion with cocoa butter or collagen. My aunt is a dermatologist and she said you just have to increase the elastin in your skin. Hydrate lots too!!!0

Don't worry! You're young and your skin can easily bounce back over time. I have the same fears you do, but the closer I get to goal, the more confident I am that I will not need surgery. I moisturize a lot and do lots of strength training. My arms are still a little flappy, along with my tummy and thighs...but it really isn't that bad and I am sure that in the next year with strength training, my skin will catch up with my weight loss. It just takes TIME. Trust me, we have being young in our favor. However, I did ask my dermatologist about creams and such for stretch marks and skin texture and she said there is no miracle cream. She told me that if I hit goal weight and I am still unhappy with the appearance of my tummy, to see a laser specialist. Why can't we just have miracle creams!??!0

This - plus don't lose the weight too fast - also moisturise - any good body cream - keep on lathering it on - give your skin all the help it can get...
I am nearly a 100 lbs down - and even with years of being overweight - and being on the wrong side of 50 I am amazed at how well my skin has been responding - I will defintely have a bit of "spare skin" at the end - but not too much...0 -
