So I'm having the hardest time preventing form stuffing my face lately. I just got married last year and have gained all my weight back + some. I've never been skinny and have always been curvy. All my I've been the "chubby" friend, family member and coworker. The least I have weighed in my entire adult life is when I got married. On my wedding day I weighed 161lbs and I felt so good at that weight. I was able to fit in size 12 jeans. Now my jeans are stuck in my closet in my skinny clothes box. My goal is to weigh 145 before I decide to get pregnant and I"m just getting older every day. Kind of frustrated right now and it's hard to stay optimistic...so i'm tying to log my food every day regardless of how much I regret it. I love to work out but haven't made the time.

I'm a stress eater.
Emotional eater.
Bored eater
Heck, I just eat whenever.

So I figure if I track my food, I'll be more consious of what I eat. Now the hard part...

    Hi, Veronica

Welcome to mfp I've struggled with my self image and weight all my life. For me I think the answer is to track my food it seems to help me control my portions. I wish you all the best I know you can do this!
  • It is very hard, there are calories in everything and temptation everywhere. I use my wii fit to weigh in every day, and I walk 1/2 hour every week morning before work. If you get into a habit of doing excersice your body craves it and it gives you more energy.
    Good luck :)

This is a great site for support. Everyone wants you to succeed almost as much as you do! It's possible, completely possible, to reach your goal.

    Best of luck!

Good on you for taking the first step.

What you must realize is that being over-weight is NOT natural, we are NOT designed to be overweight. . .nobody is.
Your body wants to be slim, you just need to allow yourself to be.

Only eat when you are hungry (this is a burning sensation in your stomach)
Only eat until you stop being hungry (this is as soon as the burning sensation stops)

So many people don't actually know what it is to be hungry and what it is to be satisfied. . .don't worry I struggle with this too, I tend to go from starving to stuffed, but that is an unnatural state.

You need to get it well inside your brain that we only eat to keep us alive, that's the only function of eating, there's no comfort in eating any food other then to relief hunger. So we should only eat when we're hungry and not because we are stressed, deserve the treat, are emotional, are frustrated, and the list goes on and on.
Once you get this in your head you'll start seeing things differently.

You don't see a obese animal in the wild, and you'll see only in domesticated animals and the sole reason is their owners. So why are wild animals not obese? First if they were obese they wouldn't be able to hunt effectively and would probably starve, so its necessary for them but most of all because they aren't emotional eater, stress eater, etc, etc. They understand that eating is merely a requirement to survive and they will eat enough to do just that.

Good luck on your journey... whatever you do, remember to make it enjoyable for yourself.

I am all those kinds of eaters too. just count your calories now and put everything in your food diary, also find some fun exercises to do and try to do them envision yourself doing them even when you get to your goal weight. Dont think of this as a diet it is a life style change so you will never have to be where you are again. Good luck one of the many reasons i wanted to lose weight was because i want to have a few more babies one day soon and i wasnt feeling very healthy. Didnt want to have a baby to take care of with zero energy.

I can so relate to you; we have similar stats. I started my healthy lifestyle at age 32 and at 186-190 lbs, before having kids. I improved my diet and worked out moderately 4-5 days/week and got down to 137 lbs in 9 months. If I can do this, so can you! Then, I had my first child at age 33 and managed to lose the baby weight via breastfeeding and Pilates dvds. I'm 43 now, with 2 school-aged kids, still striving to eat healthy and stay active. Feel free to friend me! It's never too late and you're still young!
