Hello! Looking for inspiration/accountability!

Hello, my name is Shannon. I'm a 36yo woman, had some weight gain over the last year or two. I have PCOS (polycystic ovarian syndrome) and when my hormones get out of whack, I tend to gain. Loosing weight is in itself a treatment, but it's even harder to accomplish. So, I just started hormone therapy, cutting calories, light exercise for now, and I'm hoping for the best. Looking for female friends to chat with who may also be dealing with PCOS but not a requirement. Thanks!!

    Hi Shannon!
My name is Elizabeth and I am a 26 yo woman. I have been dealing with PCOS for the last 4 years. In the last two years I have gained about 40 lbs. PCOS has negatively impacted so many parts of my life- lack of energy, which leads to lack of motivation, self esteem issues, etc. It has been such a struggle trying to lose weight and keep weight off. I recently had a few doctors tell me that if I keep not doing anything about my weight I may develop diabetes and other diseases. So, I recently started taking metformin, logging calories, and exercising at least twice a week. What kind of hormone therapy did you start? What kind of exercise are you doing?

Hi there! Please count me in too. I am definitely in need of some encouragment! I'm 42 and have been battling PCOS for about a decade now. It came on suddenly after I stopped taking the pill and my dr. put me on Metformin. I've lost and regained the same 30 pounds so many times and now even on met I just keep gaining. I've been reading a lot about Metformin and vitamin deficiency and I'm thinking about stopping taking it and focusing just on clean eating and moving my body daily. Anyone else having issues with Met and stop taking it with positive results? I just feel tired all the time, muscle weakness and it just doesn't seem to help with my carb cravings any more. Something doesn't add up! Thanks for any feedback.

I am 38 years old and was currently diagnosed with PCOS after 4 years of sudden health issues and weight gain. I have always been highly active and maintained a weight of 125 my whole life even after 3 babies. I started gaining weight after going off birth control at 34 to try to have a baby with my husband. My body just went crazy. I started losing my hair, eye lashes, and eyebrows. Extreme acne on face, chest and back. Crazy hair growth in unwanted areas.I experienced extreme spells of fatigue and body aches. Painful periods that recently started skipping, I had always been regular. After different doctors and rheumatologist telling me its just mid life issues, I must not be eating right, I'm probably just stressed or depressed Id had enough. I got an ob/nutritionist who put me on a low sugar, low carb 1200 calorie diet in may. I started the year weighing 155 Im now at 143. I have had to fight for each pound this year. Also I worked out 5 times a week. But Im noticing that I can't hang with the high impact workouts after a few weeks I get burned out and fatigued. I also do alot of Trim healthy mama meals. They are pretty low carb good calorie ratio. So forward up to 4 weeks ago. I seen a reproduction speacialist who diagnosed me with PCOS. It had caused me to stop ovulating and become infertile. We are in the middle of our first cyle of 100mg of Clomid to kick my ovulating back into gear. Hopefully we have luck! This is going to be a life long journey but you can ease the symptoms with good food, exercise and support system. I also craved sugar like crazy!! I bought 90% dark chocolate bars. I only at one square a day with almonds or walnuts to help cut cravings. Trim healthy mama had a lot of natural sweetners I use to make desserts also. Hope this helps encourage others.
