I am 5'3" and 93 lbs. MFP suggests 1430 calories to maintain this weight although I have been eating 1550 and maintained. Do you think 1600 calories a day will make me gain?

You are underweight, eat more.4

Are you active? You could be burning more calories than you realize. If you're looking to gain, set MFP to 'gain one pound per week', eat your exercise calories back, and see where that puts you in a month.0

If you are maintaining at 1550, adding 50 calories daily will cause you to gain a pound in 17 days.0

MFP is only a rough estimate of what you're burning and what you need to maintain. Figuring out maintenance calories is a bit of a experiment to see what works. Slowly up your calories and after a few weeks note the change and go from there.1
