Apple Watch question

So switched from a fit bit to Apple Watch and am a little confused about the calorie adjustments on MFP. I did think the for bit ones were a little too high, but I'm confused about how the apple Watch is getting its #s. originally I had my activity set as not very active/sedentary thinking that all my steps would fill in my extra calories allowed. But that only ended up giving me for example on Sunday 1421 calories total when my activity app on my phone and Watch showed me as burning over 3000 calories. I am set to lose 1 lb a week. Any advice?

I have had a watch for about a year now. What I think the issue is when synching to MFP is that you are looking at the total calories burned throughout the day. When you sync MFP with your watch, it will only add calories to your daily goal if you log them as a workout. So for example, if you were to go on an hour long run and logged the workout showing you burned 600 calories, that would be added to your daily calorie total on MFP. However, if you work out without recording the workout on your watch, it will just add it to the activity level, without recording a workout to MFP, which will in turn not add a calorie value to your daily total for food.
Let me know if this makes sense, it can be a little confusing!

If you look in the FAQ's on MFP there's a whole section about this. Essentially, MFP is only crediting you the difference between what they "project" your activity to be and what your Apple Watch actually shows. For example, I ran a half marathon last weekend, my Watch showed 1741 active calories and MFP gave me 354 calories. Not sure if/how it can be resolved, but please post back if you find a solution.
