First time mum/breastfeeding exclusively

Hi friends, I have used fitness pal in the past to lose a stone in weight but I've recently 8 months ago-isn't really recently) had a baby girl and have gained a total of almost 4 stones!!! I feel awful and have lost all confidence. I am hoping to lose this weight and get back to my cheerful old self. Firstly has anybody every tried replacing a meal wish a smoothie/shake whilst breastfeeding? I'm struggling at the moment because I know I can't be too strict on myself as I'm breastfeeding my baby. Please help. Thanks x

I havn't done this, but just thought i'd share that I have started to use a protein shake post-exercise. My baby is 9 months now and I've just started doing Crossfit, which is quite challenging. I find if i don't have the shake i end up eating all the rubbish in the house later in the day. I've been adding 300kcals "breastfeeding exercise" to my log up to 6m but reducing to 200 now as she's eating less of me!
I'm sure if you have a balanced diet otherwise, and aren't short on any vitamins, it would be okay....if you're not providing what baby needs, they'll just feed more til they get what they need.
Suggest trying it and see how you feel and if baby starts feeding more often, that would be an indicator to me to lay off for a bit. Otherwise, it works for you, take care of yourself too and go for it!0 -
What's your daily calorie goal? Before subtracting the 200 breastfeeding calories?0
