Ambulating in a wheelchair; calories burned?

I've recently become wheelchair bound due to a connective tissue disorder combined with a hip subluxation and a knee injury. :s Hopefully I won't be in it for longer than a few months, but in that time I still want to lose weight/at least not gain. How should I adjust my caloric intake, while taking into account the cardiovascular nature of propelling myself? I definitely hit 180-190 bpm just rolling about campus, so I figure it must count someway, but sitting also takes less calories than standing. :/

Any help is much appreciated!

There is a girl on facebook that is working out all the hard beachbody videos and she is in a wheel chair? How she got created and do it her modified version for the wheelchair. So itching is impossible.

What was your calorie goal before this happened? I would reduce it by a couple hundred because I think that overall you will burn fewer calories than when ambulatory, even taking into account the self-propulsion. Good luck and I hope you recover soon.

What is your goal for weight loss on average?

Were you hitting that consistently before?

If so, I would agree with dropping a couple hundred and adjust if needed after 2-3 weeks of weight change.

I go through this from time to time with connective tissue problems, keep rolling as they say ;).
