Colds disrupting my running routine

I'm quite susceptible to colds, and I seem to suffer more with them than most people. My latest one came on last night, and I was planning going for a run this lunchtime. I don't want to skip the run, because I enjoy it, but at the same time I don't want to make my cold worse or, or struggle with running because of my cold.

What do other runners do in this situation?

    I'd run anyway.

I probably would run today, but then rest.

If you are getting frequent colds then you really should work on improving your immune system. This could be as simple as getting more sleep, adjusting your diet, or generally being kind to yourself and not doing too much.

Thanks for the advice. I do aim to keep an eye on these things, and I take vitamins, but I do work with children so exposure to germs is a hazard of the job!

As long as it's not a chest cold, run anyway, I always do.

Running won't make your cold worse, but a cold might make running harder. It's your choice, don't run, or do a lighter run.

I find running helps with a head cold. Get's the snot flowing and clears the congestion. Gives you a chance to perfect your snot rockets.

I went out last night for a run. I felt like crap with a head cold but forced myself outside figuring on a 3 mile run. After a couple miles i started feeling better and went 5.5 miles. Normally I run a 9:30 mile on an easy run but last night was nearly 11:00.

I also work with children and have constant colds, i recently joined the gym and have noticed that since joining the gym my colds don't last as long as they did before and can get over them quicker, maybe its just coincidence but i think working out has defiantly helped!!
