Binge eating disorder recovery

Hello! My name's Jenn, I'm 21 and attempting to recover from binge eating disorder. I have been struggling with it since I was 16, but it has recently (in the past year) gotten worse.
I have gained 40 pounds in the past couple years, and it's really becoming noticeable. Anyone else in the same boat??
I'd love to make some friends on here so we can encourage and motivate each other, and hopefully learn ways to avoid binges and have a healthy relationship with food

I haven't ever been formally diagnosed with an eating disorder, but I'm pretty sure I'm borderline BED.
Like, the meal's not over when I'm full, the meal's over when I hate myself. I'll eat an entire package of cookies, because I "don't want there to be leftovers that I'll end up eating later". #logicfail. Sometimes I eat stuff when my husband's not looking, and hide the wrappers/packaging so he won't give me that shocked look, knowing how much I actually ate. So yeah, a lot if the warning signs are there. It's important to me that I not let this spiral into a full-blown psychological addiction. I have too much at stake to allow that in my life.
I've gotten a lot better at controlling it, usually just by identifying my triggers (boredom, cheat days, letting myself get too hungry) and heading them off before they start. Having a meal plan in place and sticking to it, allowing small treats, chewing gum, are the keys to keeping in in check.1 -
That sounds exactly like what I do.. it's hard to control, so it's awesome that you could identify your triggers and figure out how to handle them
I have similar triggers. I find repeating a phrase to myself can help stop the urge to binge ("I eat to live, I don't live to eat" – compliments of my therapist)
If you'd like to talk more about this, send me a message! I'll add you now0 -

Hello, I don't know whether anyone is still watching this, but I am also having trouble with binge eating. I've always had an unhealthy relationship with food, but it's steadily got worse over the last year. I want to speak to a doctor about it but I'm afraid they'll just tell me to stop being so greedy and try harder.
Has anyone had any success with treatment?0
