find a Fleet feet store close to you and get them to find what you need. They are freaking awesome.

I recently went to a running store (Runners Plus) and had them fit me for a running shoe. I could tell the difference in my very first run. They watch you walk, run, etc. and fit the shoe accordingly. I think I maybe paid a tad bit higher than I would have elsewhere, but nothing I wasn't expecting.

Reebok RunTones. I also have high arches as well as wide feet, but these shoes fit my feet like a glove! :o)

If you are tight on cash and need something off the rack, go to Academy and try out the various styles of Saucony, or if cash flow is not so much an option, check out a running store.

I have high arches and overpronate slightly. I have the Aasics Kayanos and LOVE them. However, I also have the superfeet insoles (the green ones) in my shoes. Just because the Aasics work for me they also may not work for you. The best idea would be to go to a running store and get properly fitted. They should have you try on the shoes and watch your stride. The Kayanos are also the most expensive ones I tried on. I orginally tried some of the Brooks but after a few times of running in the them I had major foot pain and had to return them. Any good running store will let you return the shoes after you have tried them (mine did after running outside but others encourage you to try them on a treadmill first).

FYI-I am no expert but have suffered from planters fasciitis when I played tennis all through high school and shin splints. Getting properly fitted has helped me immensly. Good luck and happy running!

roadrunnersports.com has a listing of all of their local stores in your area. Either that or look up a privately-owned running store so you can get properly fitted. Everyone has their favorite brands, getting fitted will put you in the shoe best suited to your running style.
  • definitely check out an actual running store to get fitted properly if at all possible. i stand by my saucony's.

I like Ryka. They are made exclusively for women. I have high arches too so I also add an insert from Lady Footlocker for added arches.

    Hi,

I went here http://www.fleetfeethartford.com. They did a great job figuring out what my needs were and they are into running.

I strongly recommend you find and go to a running store for your first purchase at least. Expect to spend $90-$110 for a good pair of running shoes that matches you needs. In the store, you get to try the shoes and the folks at the store help you figure out what your needs are based on your running style and expectations.

    Cheers,

    Sean

the rebock zig zags ones I used for a year- loved it. Completely cured a heel problem I had.
I used to run with Asics, but I'm not the biggest fan to be honest
No I have the Nike + ones (i don't know what make they are tho)
=] but I don't have super high arch, but I'm super picky about my shoes.

I also stand by my Saucony's
I tried Reebok Runtones and Nike Lunarglides and had terrible shin splints because there was not enough arch and support. I have ran 3 5k's and a 1/2 marathon in my Saucony's they are amazing...... your legs will also strengthen and shin splints will get better. I found Icy Hot and wrap in ace bandages at night was a miracle drug for me! Wake up pain free!! :drinker:

Brooks Ghost 4 are my favs... they are just THE perfect fit for me... But honestly you can get 100 different people give you 100 different recommendations on shoes and those shoes will be right for them, but probably not for you. Go to a running store and get fitted. You will get to try on a ton of different shoes and see which ones are best for your foot.

ETA: I have a normal to high arch and tend to over pronate

I have a high arch, wide feet and over pronate a little on my left foot, which is also half a size bigger than the right...and my arch tries to flatten out when I step, so, yeah...but, I run in Nike Equalon 4's with green superfeet inserts. I was fitted at a running store, and it has helped immensely.

Running shoes are SO IMPORTANT and so personal - You really should go to a running specialty shop - they measure your arches, watch y our stride (I have low arches, and tend to put 80% of my pressure on the outside of my feet) and they recommend shoes to you ...

You dont' HAVE to buy them there if you find them somewhere else cheaper. In Vancouver The Running Room is the best place to go ... :)

    Good luck

Currently using the Nike Pegasus 27+ - First pair of Nike's EVER and I love them!

If you end up going to a specialty running store, and finding the "perfect shoe", check out RunningWarehouse.com before you pay retail. I have high arches too. Bought orthopedic inserts for my Adidas trail shoes and a pair of Sauconys (Guide) for the road. I paid $47 shipped for the Sauconys from RunningWarehouse.com because they were a closeout.

    good luck

^ Liking them ? I just got these in March - already need a new pair (got them to train for my half marathon in) haha which I wasn't able to do cuz I broke my big toe in kick boxing :( *sigh*

I'm a half size bigger in Nike too ... than any other brand, did you find that?

Only had them for two days: so far they're great so far. I was the same size in Adidas and Saucony, and my Puma soccer shoes are the same size too.

    Cheers,
