Bloat relief

I live in the mountains and am going to the ocean for Thanksgiving for several days.
Every time I go to sea level, I retain water making me very uncomfortable. Usually I can't even wear my rings.
It wasn't so uncomfortable when I weighed 95 lbs more because I basically wore a tent everywhere, now I wear clothes that fit me properly so I feel it much more.
I was thinking of trying a diuretic while there to relieve the symptoms. Do you think it will help? Is there a brand you recommend? Will I be spending all my time in the bathroom?
Thanks for your input.

Diuretics are for people with real health issues. Drink more water and watch your sodium intake.

I think everyone else pretty much covered what I was going to say but as far as this question goes:
Will I be spending all my time in the bathroom?

The answer is (likely) yes. I have a relative who is on a diuretic (given by her doctor) and if she knows she's going somewhere, she doesn't take it for that reason.

    Ask a dr.

I will say though that I can see where your train of thought is going. My mom is essentially on a diuretic for high blood pressure or what she likes to call her "water pill." She doesn't plan anything for the mornings because she takes it when she first gets up and is in the bathroom every half hour.
So, I would say no to the diuretic for many reasons as it might affect your blood pressure which might already be affected by changing your elevation level and you want to enjoy the ocean, not a bathroom!
I can completely see why you would have this train of thought though as you are uncomfortable but I think it best to check with your doctor, you don't want to be sick on vacation!
I'm sorry I don't have an answer for you! Enjoy your Thanksgiving!

    Some dandelion tea couldn't hurt.

I would second trying the dandelion tea. It can't hurt and tends to strip water from me. Coffee is a diuretic as well. Drinking mega tons of water and really watching sodium intake.

I have the same issues, so I try to drink much more water than usually and watch how much carbs and salt I eat. Plus, dandelion tea helps as well.
