Variations on traditional thanksgiving dinner

Since I am home alone for Thanksgiving, I can make whatever I want! I'm having turkey ham tangine with quinoa and turmeric roasted Brussels sprouts and cauliflower with chick peas. Pretty darn proud of myself. Who else is changing it up from traditional turkey with the fixings? What are you having instead?

I can't say I am changing it up much...but we are vegetarian so I am making a vegetarian roast for the kids and I (I made my boyfriend his own real turkey breast this morning before he had to go to work...along with stuffing and biscuits). I am also making lasagna a bit later so it will be the normal stuff like stuffing, mashed potatoes and biscuits, but also some different stuff such as vegetarian roast, lasagna and cheesy garlic bread. :) I didn't leave out the pumpkin pie though... lol

We have the usual fixings, but it is also accompanied by foods of my family's culture. So you get a plate of turkey, stuffing, potatoes, with things like papaya salad, chicken larb, noodles, spring rolls, etc. It makes for a fun combo.

I had a friend years ago who's family would do the same thing! She had me over for Thanksgiving and I'll never forget the papaya salad, it was so spicy I almost died and they ate it like it was nothing, even the kids.

We don't celebrate Thanksgiving and all 3 of us are/were working today so had typical for us food. Sandwiches to go, veggies, chips and a pasta dish for home.
