I am out of work right now. Money is tight.
How can we afford all these healthier foods?
Are there any "healthy" foods that don't cost that much? Like beans, veggies, etc?
It seems like it's cheaper to buy frozen pizza and boxed yucky stuff

Yes buying processed foods is cheaper. That's why people are obese in poor districts.

I would suggest buying from bulk bins. Rice, quinoa, beans etc. AND LENTILS!! We were poor growing up and my mom used to make lentils all the time! They're suuuper cheap and good for you.. Also frozen fruits and veggies usually go on sale and are cheaper than fresh. If you must buy fresh make sure you are buying the produce that is in season. If it's out of season that means they had to transport it from where ever the heck and it is pricey.

Also there are a suprising amount of sites/articles online about healthy eating on a budget. Just search for them.

Hope things look up for you soon!

Look for deals and buy what's in season for fruits and veggies. Get a freezer so you can stock up on meat when it's on sale.

Also, buying frozen fruits and veggies is just as healthy (and generally much cheaper)

I was just about to say, go frozen. Although they typically not organic and you have to defrost them... they are there. Although in my store, there is only frozen strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, mango, peach, blackberries and pineapple. Which is fine with me because I usually just eat berries. They don't taste as fresh, as they need to defrost - but hey. It's there, and it's cheap.

Dried beans and brown rice are both pretty cheap. For fresh produce try a local farmer's market for affordable locally grown vegetables. Frozen veggies can also be a cheap alternative. They are not usually as tasty as fresh but are sometimes more nutricious since sunlight can destroy some nutrients after the vegetables are picked. Look for sales on canned (low/no salt) or frozen veggies and stock up.

Also, if you have space grow your own. Even if you only have a balcony or deck many vegetables can be grown in containers (pots).
