Hiking in Central Virginia

I am looking for like minded folks who have done hiking recently or in the past. I am a New York City native and having hiked some of the tougher regional area hikes in the last 8 weeks have amazed me. I have done Sharp Top and Flat Top of the Peaks of Otter on the Blue Ridge Parkway. I have done Devil's Marbleyard in Natural Bridge and Humpback Rocks in Waynesboro. This past weekend I hiked McAfee's Knob in Catawba, Va. It is one of the most photographed places on the Appalachian Trail. Prior to hiking these trails about 8 weeks ago, I had never hiked before. Anyone out there hiked these or recommend challenging hikes around this region that offer stunning views at the top as a reward for the effort to get to the top? Thanks

Cold Mountain on the Appalachian Trail north of US 60 in Amherst County is nice, it can be a difficult hike from US 60, or easy from the dirt road just north of it. I understand there is a fire in the area right now, though.0
