Trouble with my HRM

I have no idea what is going on with it. I have a Polar ft7. It is all wonky for some reason. I have been using since I got it last January without problem.
I put it on, and it says my resting heartrate is 203, or 197, or 223.
Puhleeze.
Yeah, I checked. Try like.... 76 or so.
I readjust it and then it registers a big fat 0.
Okay now I KNOW that isn't right.
I've been fiddling with it for a while this afternoon and can't seem to get it to work or find any answers.
Help???

Sounds like time to replace battery!0

Funny - my husband has the same model and the same problem right now! I was thinking we'd start with replacing the batteries in the transmitter and the watch/receiver.0

Does it have a soft, cloth-type chest strap? I had a similar with mine and when I switched to the old plastic type strap (I had an old here) it started working fine. Crazy, huh?0

I was going to suggest battery replacement too and see if that helps ...0

Yep, try the battery. Maybe try wetting the sensor areas on the chest strap before putting it on also. The strap is tight enough when you put it on, right? Good luck.0

battery replacement...and you have to send it into Polar for that!0

I have the FT4 and has had the same issues since I got it a few months ago. I spend about half of each workout fiddling with the strap and the watch, usually to no avail. But sometimes it works fine.
I recently sent an email to the Polar Guy (address on their website) describing the problem and asking if I should send it to them or what. (I haven't heard back from him yet, but after a week or two, I'll email again or call.)
Then I decided to try ALL of the troubleshooting ideas (also on website) and the problems are slightly better (like since then I've had 2 workouts where it worked the whole time, but still a few where it gave inaccurate readings at times). I had not been washing mine as well as the lady in the video does (and I didn't know I was supposed to rinse the little electronic part too) and it may have at least helped the problem. Good luck!0 -
I have the same model and mine was acting wonky like that, but it got better after I washed the strap with mild soap in the sink. Do you clean the strap frequently?0

Ummm... ooops. Nope.... just give it a wipe down. I'll try washing it now. <blush>0

Haha it's ok... I didn't know either til I looked it up! Hope it works better after its bath0 -
I've mentioned it in other threads, but if you're around devices that emit wireless or high electrical impulses, it can disrupt the link from the transmitter (chest strap) to the watch. Try getting away from all "high tech" gadgets and check it again.0

Okay, I washed it properly and then it seemed to work fine. I didn't realize about the "high tech" interference either. Thanks for all the input ya'll!
