Staying under my allowed fat grams per day is impossible it seems. Advice and thoughts needed.

    Re: carbs causing fat storage.. Could this be the case for people with medical conditions such as insulin resistance, PCOS etc etc?

    I know in the end it calories in/calories out, but for certain people carbs don't do positive things for their weight loss/satiety.

    32g fat seems awfully low. Fat is not 'bad'. Actually our bodies need fat. Re-evaluate your macro goals.

    I have PCOS and i eat majority of my diet as carbs. -Not that im suggesting it to others- But i feel to some extent people may blame it when they shouldn't. Carbs are just fuel.

    No. Not even in the slightest bit true. A calorie surplus is what causes one to store fat. Not carbs, fat or protein. Calories. Excess energy.

    Yes, an excess of calories causes you to gain weight. But do you science? In particular the relationship between carbs and insulin and fat storage? Fact - you can eat 2000 calories of a high fat low carb diet and lose weight (I've done it) or you can eat 2000 calories of low fat high carb and gain weight. Because of how insulin stores fat in your body. So yes, more than slightly true.

    There is plenty of legitimate peer reviewed studies and scientifically based evidence out there if you care to educate yourself.

    Also, I've lost close to 100lbs eating pretty high carbs, as in over 200g+ per day or up to 70% of my calorie intake. Am I a special snowflake?

    That one time I busted science IN THE FACE and ate 400g carbs a day, 1/3 of them straight sugar and lost weight to 7% body fat.

    That Dude "Science" you're talking up is highly suspect... because I think he's not actually science.

    But we're digressing... back to OP.

    Anytime a person eats, their bodies store nutrients and you don't need carbs to inhibit fat storage. Fats cause your body to release hormones (particularly, ASP) which inhibits HSL. Lets not even take into consideration de novo lipogenesis would suggest that carbs are less likely to store as fats, as compared to fats, since carbs are more metabolically taxing to convert. Lets also not take into consideration the longest living, healthiest place in the world (Blue Zones) are 70%+ carbohydrates.


    OP, fats are essential, so like others have stated, I wouldn't care so much if you go over. Many members can get up to 80% of their calories from fats and still lose weight. Also, many fats, especially unsaturated are very healthy for you and can improve metabolic markers.

    This right here.

    my fat is set to 53g and I track sat fat its 23g,for me I have to be on a low fat diet per health issue. but for some it will possible be on the low end. and yeah 32g sounds low but I read it should be .4-.5 g per lb of your target body weight.who knows though

    I typically eat between 7-13 grams of fat per day due to a medical restriction, loads of carbs (350 g), and a hearty amount of protein (160g)
    I am losing weight, just as I did when I followed a HFLC diet (60fats/35protein/5carb) Why? Because I am restricting calories and eating at a light to moderate deficit.

    To OP: Not too hard to do, bump your protein up with some low fat sources. I like nonfat Greek yogurt, whey protein powder that has little to no fat, white fishes! Seriously. If you like white fish, go for cod, flounder, mahi, pollack. Shrimp and squid are good, but bear in mind have high cholesterol. Deli meat that is 99% fat free is another good spice of ultra low fat protein. Egg whites (as another suggested), beans and lentils. There are some pastas that are made with lentils that have like 25 gms of protein per serving! Baked or boiled chicken breast can be cooked ahead and made into lunch, snacks, or reheat-and-eat dinners. My 'oh gosh, protein is way too low' snack is low/non fat cottage cheese.

    And 30 grams of fat per day isn't too high, so going over a bit isn't the worst thing. Work on getting your protein up, and you'll feel good, recomp more efficiently.
