I'm down 40pds from 210 now 166lbs. My goal weight is 160 and now I'm suffering from massive sugar cravings. It's mostly at bedtime and I don't like to drink a gallon of water before bed because it messes with my sleep. I don't know what else to do. I need my ice cream and don't want to cut it entirely. Any suggestions?

My daily calorie goal allows me to have a sweet treat everyday. I wait until after dinner, that way I look forward to it during the day.

For me, sugar cravings will be part of maintenance too. Develop a strategy, whether it's single serve packaging, or making a trip to the yogurt shop at least once a week. Would you be satisfied with a bit larger portion of lower calorie ice cream, or is a small portion (of the real deal) going to do it for you?

Water does nothing to curb cravings for me.....I'm not sure it does that for anyone.

If its habitual and you enjoy the ice cream and have no medical reasons to not eat it, work it in somehow. If the craving is more physical and/or you should avoid sugar, you might try adding a bit more fat to your evening meal.

I already have ice cream fit into my daily but I'm more hungry now than I have ever been on this diet so I'm trying to eat more filling foods but the cravings are worse now more than ever. Eat more ice cream and be more hungry ? Don't eat ice cream and probably binge on sweets?

What's your current calorie goal? Have you taken a diet break at all?

Eat more fat. Seriously, add more fat to your diet and the cravings will start to fade. It can be plant based fats, if you prefer.

OP, as a male you shouldn't be eating as little as 1400 calories. 1400 is far too little for a male...it is no wonder why you are hungry. Bump your calories up to 1600 calories. Also, if you are not using a food scale for everything that you eat, start doing so, even for the clif bars and pre-weighed prepackaged items. You'll get a far better accurate idea of how much you are eating. Add your recipes into the recipe builder if you are choosing generic entries. Are you weighing the rice cooked or raw? There is great difference between cooked and raw of the same weight. Weigh the ice cream.

Also, try not to use Quick add entries so often.

You need to eat more fats. Your protein is okay on most days, but your fat level is always under what is listed in your diary.

    Weigh your protein powder.

If you only have 10lbs to your actual goal, only aim to lose .5 (half a pound) per week. Anything higher will leave you hungry.

Instead of tracking sugars, track fiber. It's much more useful.

No more cups and spoons, unless you're measuring actual liquid.
