Hey!

I always find it really difficult to stay on track each year nearer Christmas time, and I am sure I am not the only one! Tips to stay on track this Christmas would be much appreciated

Get out for a walk when you can - that will be my main plan! Fresh air + more wiggle room for calories= less hungry!!

Other than that - log everything even if you're going to go over, drink lots of non-calorie drinks, and above all enjoy yourself knowing it's only a short period :)

My advice is log everything. Enjoy foods and drinks you love in moderation. Don't waste calories on mediocre foods. Try to get at least a walk or some type of exercise most days. And don't stress too much about it. You don't have to be perfect every day.

Eat a good healthy breakfast every day, I did that over the Thanksgiving holiday and it really helped me later on the day when the temptations were everywhere...I was able to eat a little bit of everything but didn't feel famished....oh, and log everything!

Never eat anything that is just Blah, it is just not worth it, and move your body, it is a great way to get rid of any guilt you may have from the Eggnog!

And what's been working for me is the opposite!. Pay attention to what works for you. For me when I eat breakfast I seem to feel hungrier all day. Pay attention to what you do the days you feel really hungry. If when you have sweets you tend to crave more note that. If the days you skip breakfast are the days that are hard to control note that. For me skipping breakfast, limiting sweets from where they had been (not totally gone but less frequent), and snacking less on higher carb items tends to help me not feel as snacky/hungry. Pay attention to the trends.

Just keep logging, workout a little more to account for calories, save a few calories each day if I know something is coming up and I'm going to eat more a certain day.

I'm planning on cooking the entire Christmas meal for my whole family (it's usually my mom/dad who cooks.. their food is absolutely yummy but not particularly healthy) and I made sure to include plenty of healthy options. I think it'll help me to stay on track for most of the time as I'll be 1) on my feet for days prepping the meals 2) I know what exactly goes into which meal so I can log it (relatively) accurately. Also, I prepped a meal plan with at least one meal per day to only include lean meat and lots of veggies. Plus I'm prepping food enough for only one meal i.e. hopefully no (or very little) leftovers to munch on at night time! ;) As for desserts I chose to make low-fat/low-kcal/low-whatever options as I don't have the willpower to stay away from them for days while everyone else is having a great time around me.. this way I can at least make sure I have a healthy option to pick from. Family's happy as they don't have to bother with planning the meals and cooking/baking and they eat whatever I put in front of them :)

I just pick my poison: a glass or two of awesome wine. A perfect, delectable truffle. A few bites of some exotic, pungent French cheese.... there's a lot of the same crap over and over at Christmas time. Seen it, have tasted it, usually disappointing...so now I just hold out for the really, really good stuff. And usually when something is really, really good - a small bit is very satisfying....

I jave picked up treats for me. when everyone is eating their chocolate I have some heavenly dark chocolate....got lots of nuts that are a teat. for me if I start on sugar it's hard to come back so I have some planned treats in the house.

when I'm off work I don't walk as much so my Christmas goal is to get out and walk it always helps my cravings. I'm not so worried about Christmas day but the days after christmas that I'm off. also planning some active family activities so not sitting around snacking all week.
