After 3 days of no choclate (my addiction) I slipped and ate two brownies for "breakfast" this morning. Why am I so weak? I'm trying to hard I've quit sofas completely with no problem but choclate is my weakness!! How can I make up for this for that day? The two brownies I ate were 340 calories combined. :(

Were you by chance eating too little during those 3 days?

I don't think so yesterday I had about 200 calories left for the day but the day before I ate 200 calories extra so I did that on purpose. I honestly think I just have a chocolate addiction but I'm going to try the dark chocolate suggestions once or twice a week and hope the cravings subside.

Maybe you need to not have sweets in large quantities as home for awhile. Perhaps purchase a single serving or bake brownies have one freeze the others in single servings that need to thaw out before eating?

Log the calories and move on as others have said 340 is not a bad breakfast. You may want to have a more nutritious lunch and dinner though:).

You have some good responses already, the benefit to slipping in the morning is you have the rest of the day to make it right. That being said 340 calories does not sound out of range.

If you really are trying to give up chocolate, which I would not recommend, then congratulate yourself that you made it three days this time. Next time shoot for 5. Make the goals easy to achieve and you will win in the long game even if your short game needs improvement.

    Finally, just keep looking forward.

frozen brownies are actually hella delicious. I use to freeze mine and they were amazing frozen. Made me eat them slower to. Almost like a cold fudge. yum.

What's wrong with a 340 calorie breakfast? I usually aim for 350-400, depending. Granted, brownies are not going to provide a lot of protein or micros, but you can get those at other meals and it's just one day -- maybe realizing that you are hungrier than usual before lunch will help prevent it in the future.

As for why did you do this, "addiction" is not a sufficient answer. Normally it's something you can figure out, and IMO it's worth thinking about if you go off plan and not just attributing it to "I'm weak" or some such. However, I also think, if brownies are a huge temptation, it might be better not to have them in the house if you can avoid it.

You say you aren't eating too little, but don't say what your goal is or how much activity you've been engaged in. It's also possible that you haven't been finding meals that are satisfying and enjoyable to you. Do you have a usual breakfast plan that you look forward to? If not, it makes sense you might want something else and if brownies were on hand gone with them. I find staying on plan easier if I have some kind of plan -- do you? (By which I mean an idea of the meals you will have that makes it easy and that you can look forward to.) I also think that if there is something you are going to miss a lot, maybe find a way to fit it in regularly or occasionally and then if you are tempted you can think "no, I'm going to have that tonight" or some such.

Habit also helps, so it will be harder at first until you develop new habits.

Maybe something else was going on that made you want a brownie especially badly too -- only you can answer that.

You can figure out how you want to handle this. But first, stop worrying about the 340 calorie breakfast! Make good choices for the rest of the day and move on.

There are a couple of things to explore. Feeling deprived can stem from having too aggressive a caloric deficit, and that is why everyone asked about that.

As for the chocolate issue, do you feel able to keep some in the house and have a small amount every day?

If not, can you try having something low calorie, like a cup of diet Swiss Miss every day (it's only 25 calories) to satisfy that chocolate craving? A few mini chocolate chips stirred into a serving of yogurt maybe?

I keep dark chocolate(50 cal/square) jello sugar-free chocolate pudding cups (50 calories/cup), and skinny cow frozen chocolate truffle bars (100/bar)around and save 100-200 per day for evening chocolate.

There's nothing wrong with eating chocolate...now if you'd said you ate the whole pan and couldn't stop yourself I might say you might want to take a break from chocolate until you can control it but you seem to have kept it reasonable so yay you!

I love dark chocolate. So giving it up for life is not an option for me. So I have invented new yogurt flavor that works well for me. I take 0% Fage add Stevia, and ground up 100% dark chocolate. I LOVE IT and now I never crave chocolate. I eat it everyday. So I get my chocolate and I get my protein.

It's fine, for now focus on calories as that seems decent. Speaking of, what brownies are these for 340 for 2!

If you want chocolate, work a little into your day. I prefer later at night so I am not tempted to snack on other things.

I agree....stop worrying about your 340 cal breakfast. Mine (when I do eat it) are twice as much. No biggie. Just as long everything you eat fits into your calories. Nothing wrong with brownies if you like them. As for soda, why not go diet or zero sodas? I prefer the taste of zero sodas or pepsi max.

You need to be kinder to yourself.
Stop being so harsh to yourself.
Stop beating yourself up. If you truly want to change, you won't beat yourself up. You need to learn and adapt.
(I know...I essentially repeated myself in a different way there, but it bears repeating).
There is nothing wrong with any food as long as you stay within your calories.

If you heavily restrict calories and have cut foods out because you think this is the only way, stop. Obviously this isn't working well for you. Just focus on calories. Calories are important for weight loss.

What are your stats @CaitiCat2016 (age, height, current weight, goal weight) and how many calories are you eating now? Please answer.

maybe try some dark chocolate to satisfy the craving? I have bakers 100% cacao unsweetened sometimes. Its bitter but its chocolate. Has fewer cals, good fats, and fiber too!

There's nothing wrong with you. You like chocolate and you wanted some...that doesn't make you a failure or a bad person. As long as you are within your calorie goal, it isn't going to cause issues to eat what you like. 340 calories is a pretty decent breakfast (not to mention an excellent calorie amount for 2 brownies!) , and much lower than 550 calorie Dairy Queen treat I'm planning to have soon...heh. it's okay..don't beat yourself up. Just work it into your day. :)

You've gotten great feedback here! And I second the low calorie hot cocoa mixes, those are great, especially with a bit of zero calorie Davinci raspberry syrup <3

I was wondering this myself. I don't think I've ever eaten 2 brownies and had the total be around 340. My last pan of brownies I made were around 400 per brownie, at least.

If you like a something sweet daily work it into your calories. Unless there are medical restrictions, or binging issues there is nothing wrong with chocolate, or wine for that matter- I wouldn't have been successful if I hadn't included the things I love.

I am not a breakfast person so a cup of coffee and a couple of biscuits did me for years. A couple of years ago I decided to replace my biscuits with a protein bar and Mandarin orange. Still my sweet breakfast, but with a better nutrition profile.

Every day doesn't have to be perfect.

    Cheers, h.

They're probably small...two bite brownies are only 90 a piece...I can't buy those though. I WILL eat the entire package.

You made it 3 days and that' s awesome! If you can make it 3 days without the thing you love I bet you can make 3 days working in moderate amounts of that thing that you love! I bet you can make it even longer because you won't feel deprived. I happen to love potato chips, and I have some several days a week. I work it into my calories and because I allow myself that serving of it I haven't had a potato chip binge in quite some while. I don't keep large amounts of potato chips around either. I tend to buy it in the little bags with 2 servings.

340 for breakfast is fine! Mine usually range from 300-500 on average. I suggest working something small and chocolate into your daily cals....it sounds like you really need it and if you don't have it you could binge. There is nothing wrong with eating any type of food, its just about moderation1

Dark chocolate is actually not bad for you. It's the sugar that is considered unhealthy so I usually keep 75% cocoa or higher around for when I crave it. As far as I am concerned the higher the cocoa percentage the yummier it is.

I understand. There are somethings I just don't even keep in the house because I know I will gorge on it. If we feel we can't exercise self control on certain things it may be best to just avoid whatever it is. All this eating just a square of chocolate once or twice a week may be easy for some folks, but for others it only leads to eating the whole stinking bag of chocolate. That is why I know better than to do that. It's like telling an alcoholic to just have a sip or two of beer a week.

Meanwhile, Just pick up and move on. Also, if it happens to be anywhere near that time of the month just give yourself a break. Cravings (especially for chocolate) tend to hit hard around that time. Maybe even up to a week or two before for some folks. Don't beat yourself up. One thing that may help you is to find some acceptable alternatives. There are a lot of 90 calorie snack bars out there and some of the fudge brownie or general chocolate ones are pretty good. They may get you through tough times. OR as was mentioned by another person up top maybe try buying single servings only of these items. If you bake, take some to a neighbor that way you won't have the whole pan of what ever it is to deal with.

340 calories isn't a bad breakfast, but yeah I understand how hard it is to break chocolate addiction. Six months ago I was literally eating 5+ (and that was a good day) of those mini-version candy bars a day, it was disgusting. It's definitely a major reason for my weight, and why my molars are in awful condition. The only thing I could do was just throw it out altogether and not buy any more, and to also get a little "chocolate" in the form of a breakfast shake every morning so I'm not completely without.
