Ok just been to a Christmas fair and brought the best thing ever but not sure how to log it , it was a cadburys creme egg warped in 2 chocolate brownies covered in melted chocolate and dipped in cadburys flake pieces! Whole thing was the size of a tennis ball!!! I thought I'd died and gone to heaven and only just remembered it would have calories to log ! Anyone got any idears on how to add that bad boy up? ( no packaging ingredient list ect)

    I'd go for

    Creme Egg - 150

    Approx 100g of brownie - 450

    A Flake's worth of crumb - 170

Chocolate coating - allow another 150

So...might as well log 950 to be sure.

    Eek!

It was! Fortunately after eating it I went back pat the stall and the queue was too long to buy more for another day( I was tempted though it was NICE. !)

So hard to say, when I make brownies just one of them is 400-500 calories, not including the rest. I'd log 1000 calories to be safe. Sounds super good!

I would start at 800 calories in my guessing.

Not sure is this will be close to what you have as they do not offer a photo. But it's a starting point I think.

    I'm with those guessing 950-1000.

ETA: Anything with brownies is always worth the calories.

Here is the actual recipe for that, with a picture. For the record, it's 450kcals, but that is for a half an egg - and I know there are different size eggs. He/she(OP) said it was the size of a tennis ball, so it was likely meant to be shared/two pieces. I don't know what the size would be for this recipe, it doesn't suggest a pan size, let's be generous and say it's a 9 X 9, (for 12 servings) which would make a serving about 1.3 inches each (?) - that doesn't sound very big - there is no mention of adding flakes or choc syrup. :no_mouth:

I'd actually like to put vanilla bean Haagen Daas ice cream on that.

Weigh it. Figure half is fat and half is sugar. Fat is 7 calories per gram and sugar is 4 calories per gram. You won't be six sigma accurate, but you won't be wrong.

This will result in an overestimate, as pretty much all food contains water. For instance, about 13% of the weight of a brownie is water, and only 30% of its weight is from fat, not 50% of the total or even 50% after subtracting the water weight.

ETA: plus, it sounds as though OP has already eaten this spectacular mash-up treat, so really has no way to weigh it.

    Actually, fat is 9 calories/gram.

My rule of thumb for chips/cookies/crackers/other baked goods that I have no information on is 5 calories/gram. Which works out quite accurately as long as it's a dry product (i.e. not good for ice cream).

But I doubt the OP knows how much her treat weighed. It sure sounds yummy though!

All food products purchased and consumed from Christmas markets have zero net calories.

    Only if eaten standing up.

How many times are we going to have this discussion. :sigh:

I thought it was only if consumed with mulled wine? That's why I gained weight over night!!

That tends to be how I estimate too, 5-5.5 calories per gram for chocolate and most high calorie snacks and baked goods, and closer to 5.6-5.8 for the low moisture stuff like chips.

Thanks for the guesses guys I ended up logging it as 1000 although I was standing up and walking so should be minus calories surly?! Yes I had already eaten it so can't weigh it and tbh it looked ( and tasted) so good even if it was 2000 calories I would of still eaten it! Fortunately for the diet im a useless cook so can't recreate it

All I can say is I am grateful it's -26 right now and that's just cold enough to deter me from walking the 5km round trip to the grocery so I could make this :/
