The Nike Running app is really helpful when it comes to your time per mile, as well as a good GPS app.

I know you can use the tickr x to measure hr and calculate average pace using distance and number of strides in the wahoo fitness app. I have wondered if the Apple Watch could be used as the sensor for hr and stride with the wahoo app but I haven't figured out how. You would use the tickr x or tickr run, not the basic tickr because the first two have an accelerometer. It uses the gps in you phone or gps enabled Watch to measure distance or it can use the accelerometer to estimate distance in treadmill mode for treadmill or track running.

I use the Map My Run app on my phone and keep it with me when I'm out. It tells me my average pace and tracks my time for each mile. It also gives a calorie burn estimate and syncs to MFP. All for free. :)

Why is this a blank topic?

Anyway, easiest/cheapest way if you have a smartphone is a phone GPS app like Runkeeper or MapMyRun. Obviously there are lots of other devices that will do the same, like a Garmin.

Or just know the distance and time and do the math. That's what I did before the apps existed, since I often run on a marked trail and know blocks (real blocks) in my city are 8 per mile. You can also drive it to estimate if you run on sidewalks and your city doesn't have a consistent block measurement like that.
