Only people that are morbidly obese and even then in rare circumstances most likely with medical supervision. To lose that kind of weight you would need a deficit of 3,500 calories every day.

For me, that would mean 1) not eating anything at all for 30 days and 2) running for 2 hours straight every day at breakneck speed. Totally unrealistic. Set your goal to 1-2 pounds per week and take it slowly. :) It's unlikely you gained 30 pounds in one month, so don't try to lose it in one either. You want to be healthy in the long-term, right?

I had gastric sleeve surgery and am not even losing weight that fast. So, no. Not unless you count "amputating a leg" as a healthy way to lose 30 pounds.

I have when I was younger. I basically starved myself and I was hyperthyroid, which gave me a super charged metabolism and lots of restless energy. After three months I had lost over 70 pounds and I actually kept it off for over 5 years. I paid a cost though, I had to be hospitalized at one point because my heart took a beating and I had vitamin deficiencies, and I went into thyroid storm which is really dangerous and can kill you.

I am currently 212 and I have come to grips with the fact that this is going to have to be a slow process if I expect to keep any of it off. I have done just about every diet out there with some success followed by the gain that comes when you stop, plus a few extra pounds as a bonus. Don't kid yourself that you can do 30 lbs in one month. It will come back as fast as it left.

The first rule of goal setting? Make them realistic. Thirty pounds in one month is unrealistic.

If you weighed twice as much it would be conceivable. But from 230 to 200 is losing 14% of your weight and a complete impossibility. I mean you could maybe lose 20 if you are really unhealthy about it then sit in a sauna to lose another 10 pounds of water weight. But these would be awful choices and wouldn't be losing actual weight anyhow.

No. In no world is this a reasonable goal.

Lost 25 lbs in 2.5 weeks...then again I gave birth and gained a ton of weight! Otherwise, I can't see it being possible in most circumstances.

Yes in about 3 weeks I lost 30lbs but I was 355lbs + ....scale only went to 355lbs in my doctors office so it could of been more.

In your case at your current weight unless you're 4" talll then no it wont happen and it's not healthy. I've lost 25lbs in the last 11 weeks (currently in week 11) started this cut at 232lbs... so that might give you a better idea of what is actually doable. I do about 10K a day and I lift for about an hour on a power lifting program

30lb in 1mo is going to be extremely difficult. Prob 90% of it will be water too.

It is possible to lose 30 lbs in 30 days, even 40 lbs in 40 days, especially if you weigh yourself after a really heavy workout (ie, swimming 3 miles) and that is not all you need to lose. Most people do not recommend it, and they are surely right for a whole host of very good reasons, but I needed to quickly prove to myself (and my wife) that I was serious about getting into shape. It harmed my health, eg, sore throat, head-cold symptoms, which finally forced me to slow down. I always knew that I would need to moderate away from extremes, so I never expected to keep up this pace, but I wanted to do so as long as I could. Now I'm smarter (and thinner).

that is about 7.5 pounds a week ...not gonna happen...unless you amputate something...

the real question is - why do you want to lose 30 pounds in 30 days? Did you gain 30 pounds in 30 days???

30 days in a month sounds entirely extreme. However I think there are plenty of examples of amazing results for those that really focus on a goal. I do think you could lose two clothing sizes (about 16 pounds in 30 days) if your attention was fully focused on that goal and you were willing to be active or exercising for 4 to 6 hours a day on a very carb and sugar restricted eating plan.

Although extreme results are possible there is always an extreme downside...injury, burning out your adrenal glands and destroying your metabolism, illness, hair loss.
    dull skin, mental health issues.

I hope you can trust yourself and care for yourself in a way that maximizes results and provides you satifaction.

I lost 30 lbs from 275 to 255 in about two months by eating less than 1200 calories and walking 3 miles a day. I don't really see how someone who is starting with 50 fewer pounds could lose twice as fast without being miserable. Even what I did was not really sustainable. I have since upped my calories and switched to run/walk intervals three days a week. I am losing much slower now, but it feels like something I can do for the long haul.

Yes. By giving birth. Barring that (or an amputation), 30 pounds in one month is a completely unrealistic goal.

I did actually lose that amount (or near enough, 2 stone anyway), while pregnant and suffering from hyperemesis, which is a condition like morning sickness on steroids where you literally can't keep anything down. I ended up hospitalised with severe dehydration and malnutrition and believe me there were (and still are) severe side effects to losing weight that fast including : skin breakout, hair falling out, nails cracking, unable to walk, constipation, bad breathe, kidney issues (came close to failure), oh and gallstones, which led to my gallbladder being removed which means that 26 years later I still have issues with digesting dairy and fat.

In other words, don't even try it.

Ive lost 23 in about 30 days. Then again Im a bigger guy (295 starting weight). It hasn't all been water weight like the first week either. I've been hitting it hard with cardio sometimes 2 hours per day, only utilizing the actual hr monitor calories, and always trying to leave a minimum of a few hundred calories left at the end of the day if not 800 or so here and there.

Is it a healthy loss? Well I'm not a doctor just a pilot but I am listening to my body, some days I need to eat almost all my calories, some days I take a break from my routine to relax. It's working so far but I have a long way to go. I'm hoping to lose an additional 20 pounds in the next 2 months but we shall see.
