Hello all,

Looking to buy some protein bars, happy to spend £1 per bar (UK).

Any suggestions? Tried Tesco Nutri 1st bars – They were on offer at £1 per bar, would recommend.

My protein Zero bars aren't bad when on offer.

Looking for around a 2:1 ratio of protein to carbs.

That tends to be my budget too. I like the Tesco ones and long term offer 2 for £2. Dolphin Fitness usually have some deals and just ordered some Power Bar Plus Minerals (Hazelnut Brittle - scrummy) 30 bars for £22.95 and CNP Pro Flapjack (Cherry Almond - think Mr Kipling Bakewell Tart) at 24 for £14.95. Free economy delivery. Macros might not quite be what you want but they have quite alot in budget.

Its going to be tough to find bars with a 2:1 ratio of protein to carbs. If you do, they will be likely packed full of sweeteners and sugar alcohols. The best I have found is the B-Up bars. They are 20g of protein and ~20g carbs, but 16-17 of that is fiber, so the net carbs are really low. I don't know if you can get those outside of the US, but I would look for something like that.

Also, you could make your own. I make my own breakfast bars out of peanut butter, oatmeal, and protein powder. In a mixer, put in (per serving - I usually make 7 for a week)
    30g Natural Peanut Butter
    22g dry oatmeal
    50g protein powder
and mix on low until it is well mixed. Then add small amount of boiling water until you have a really firm "dough". Put the ball of dough between 2 pieces of wax paper and roll it out. Once it cools, cut the portions and refrigerate. Ends up being 50g protein and 27g carbs with 4g fiber.
