Hi ladies!
So I'm finishing TOM today and I was wondering exactly how much does your weight fluctuate due to water weight and bloating? I've been running and eating well all week and my scale told me I was 0.8 lbs gained from last week. I just wanted to know if that could be due to water weight, or if that is too much weight gained to just be water weight. Help!
Thanks!
Lauren

My doctor told me that your weight can fluctuate a full 5lbs during TOM! I believe it too, sometimes I will look at the scale mid cycle and nearly die from the results. x_x Don't worry about what the scale says until a week after TOM, I'd say!0

I usually gain inbetween 2-4 kilos of water weight at that time of month, which will disappear in the next few days. 0.8lbs is approximately 0.4 kg I think? Nothing to be worried about0

I've heard you can "gain" as much as 10lbs during TOM. Even if you stay the same weight, you should probably see a drop in pounds a few days after TOM ends.0

I have an app on my phone that helps me track TOM , and allows inputs like weight. I have noticed that before I get my period, I often go up 3-4lbs, which comes off gradually during and after. I think it's totally unfair!!! Everyone says you should only weigh yourself once a week, but in this case it seems I should only weigh myself twice a month!!!!0

That's definitely not too much to be water weight. I went up 4 pounds the week before my period and then the week of my period I dropped it. I haven't been able to pin down a pattern or a certain amount. I just know not to get too upset when I see a gain before/during my period, because more often than not, it goes away very quickly.0

I've had this happen too...except I bloat for about two whole weeks before as well...it's bad. But yep, don't believe the scale then!0 -
0.8???!! I do believe I am upset with you!! LOL I have gained up to 5 or 6 lbs. that week!! So...your 0.8, I'd say is not a lot at all!! Enjoy your day!!0

Three days prior and for the week of I would take a water pill. Like diurex, and it helped keep the water weight and bloating down.0

I usually gain about 5-7lbs as well as a pants and bra size.0

Honey, I put on water weight like it's nothing! My weight fluctuates 5lbs every couple of days! It doesn't even have to be that TOM. Last night, I ate a bunch of Miso soup, some sushi, and some edamame. I did go over my calorie limit a little bit, but today I'm 5lbs more than yesterday! OMG, how awful! I'm like, I know I did not eat 24,500 extra calories yesterday to make me gain 5lbs, but the scale says so! It's just water weight. I hold it all in my belly. :noway: :explode:0

That's nothing. Try 7-8 pounds!! It happened last month. I usually gain 4-5 in water weight. All is well now. A new TOM starts in 2 weeks :{0

It's my TOM now and my water weight is up. Now does anyone gain water weight right before their TOM or just during? I seem to lose and gain the same 2-5 for 2 weeks.0

Thank goodness! Thank you ladies for all of your responses. I just got so frustrated because I was working SO hard in the gym all week only to have gained. Hopefully in a few days I will show a loss.
I appreciate all your support!0
