my life is boring, and I'm considering raking a martial arts class as a challenge.0

Martial arts are fine, if that's your thing. I found soccer to be a good way to get some competition in your life without violence.0 -
Looks like something I'd have a lot of fun doing. My brother does it with his kids...my niece is like a crazy little monkey.2

BJJ - as a hobby, exercise, social life. Don't compete though.0

I just started judo 3 days ago, so kind of similar? Today, I'm so sore and worn out I can barely lift my arms, but I love it so much already. I don't really plan to compete though, I just like feeling like a boss and I'm hoping to improve my coordination and balance.1

jiu jitsu is at least much less violent than other forms of martial arts1 -
Trained TKD as a kid for 6 years, currently training BJJ and muay thai.
I compete whenever I can train consistently enough to be ready lol. Add me.0 -

Additionally, IMO, those who learn to fight are much less inclined to actually do so.3 -
I'd love to get into it but there aren't any places near me, bummer.0

my son does BJJ and has lost about 50lbs over the last year.
Yes he does compete.
He is doing is purple belt test this coming spring.
Loves it...he is a much happier young man doing it.2
