Okay, so I just searched the message boards for the problem I'm having, but couldn't really find answers. My problem is that the arch of my foot has been hurting lately ever since I got new shoes. Is there anything I can do to get rid of the pain?

They more than likely don't have enough support or you are straining your arch. Try doing some foot exercises. Roll up onto your toes, and stretch the arch, then roll back onto your heel. Do this several times. Then try pointing your toes and gently pushing down on them to stretch them in the other direction. It helps me when my archs cramp up.

Did you get fitted and they wanted you to get high aches on your sole?

You only have had the pain since you got new shoes? My guess is the new shoes that you got are not the best for your foot. I would get fitted for shoes... I have high arches so I use SuperFeet insoles and that takes care of most of my problems.

I would see a doctor. On a side note...did you get fitted for sneakers? When I used to just walk into a store and buy any old sneaker, I had similar problems with my arches. I went and got fitted for the proper sneaker for my foot type and have been pain free since.

Probably need some different shoes. If you've been successful with your older shoes I'd go to a shoe store and see what they say.

Defintely look into getting some arch support inserts for your tennis shoes. I don't know, but it may be possible...could your arches be falling? That happened to me and it sucked! I couldn't run for 6 months.

I had something similar, I believe it is called Plantar Fascitis.... anyway, I had to stop running for a while and massaged the bottom of my foot regularly with a small rubber bouncey ball... it seems like it has gone away now. It was really painful for quite a while, I'm really glad the pain has subsided. It probably took about 2 or 3 weeks before it went away. If it is really bad, there's something called a "Straussberg sock" that you can wear at night to help stretch the foot muscles and supposedly make the condition better. I never had to go that far, but I did try to make sure to keep my foot from curling up when I slept and did as much stretching during the day as I could remember to do.

Good luck, I know if can be a really frustrating and terribly painful condition.... hopefully it goes away soon.

If you feel the need, get arch support insoles. They'll probably help. I have foot problems myself and insoles make a world of difference, also make sure to drink a lot of water. Oftentimes my feet cramp and I can see the muscles balling up, when this happens I drink a sports drink and increase my potassium intake.

I started having problems like this on my foot. I ended up having plantar faciitis. Not fun I wasn't able to walk on my foot properly for a couple of weeks. When I do have pain on that part of my foot I thinking about the way I am planting my foot or walking. The exercise I was told for this pain was basically stretching your Achilles tendon. basically put the hurting foot back with the non hurt foot bent and put both hands against the wall while facing it and push forward to stretch the hurt foot. Also, get your shoes fitted properly as everyone else said. I got new shoes fitted properly at a running store and that helped the pain in my foot SO much.
