My story (so far)

My name is Jamie and I am a mom to three beautiful, amazing children. Mia is 5, Ben is 3, and Anthony is 6 months.

I’ve struggled with my weight pretty much since I learned what weight was, and I’ve dramatically fluctuated throughout my entire life. In my younger years, before I had children, I had a very unhealthy relationship with food. When I did loose weight dramatically it was in an extremely unhealthy way.

My views of myself were not only destroying me, but I allowed them to destroy relationships and even non weight related goals because I thought I wasn’t good enough.

Now that Ive been able to manage to maintain a healthy weight, I have never felt happier, healthier and more energetic. I am able to be the active hands on mom that I had always wanted to be. I have increased confidence, self esteem and finally feel true self worth. I am not saying that your weight by any means determines a persons self worth. For me, I think that the reason I feel this is because I had worked hard for something and achieved it. I was proud of what my body and I had achieved.

I am not perfect by any means, No one is. Just like everyone else, I had and still have ‘bad’ days, trust me. But what I really want people to know, is that losing weigh doesn't have to be this incredibly hard monstrous task. It really doesn't, I promise. Weight loss is simple. and it can even be fun! If you would have told me that ten years ago, I probably wouldn't have believed you.

It has now gotten to a point that Its not just about losing weight and looking good anymore. Its about showing and teaching my children strength, perseverance, determination, hard work, and the fight and struggle needed in order to achieve anything thats worth having and everything and anything that you want.

I want to teach my daughter that women can be strong, and all of my children that if you work hard and fight, anything is attainable. I don't want my children to fear hard work and difficult situations, I want them to embrace them and run into them screaming "bring it on, nothing can break me!"

The hardest part of a diet is starting one. What started off as a diet has become SO much more for me! I would have never imagined where life was going to take me just because I ‘started a diet”. Losing weight and getting fit and healthy has become a passion of mine now. I now work as a Fitness and Weight Loss Coach and am certified as a Lifestyle and Weight Management Specialist.

I now get to help others with the same things I struggled with and sill struggle with sometimes today, to show how they can overcome those obstacles that hold us back from becoming the best versions of ourselves! I am able to fulfill my passion of health and fitness and changing lives, while also continuing my own journey, all while building a lucrative business and career.

Just by starting a diet, I have completely changed my life, and my family’s lives for the better, and I couldn’t be happier.

For those of you who have not yet reached your goals, YOU GOT THIS!!! If I can do it, you can too!!! bec2u8v87aw0.jpg
Celebrate small goals, like just showing up and being here! What I have learned in the past couple of years is ANYTHING IS ATTAINABLE!!!

Thank you so much! I know it sounds silly, but putting myself out there to be judged can be really intimidating at times, but comments like that make it worth it. I know it only took 1second of your time, but it made a huge impact :) so, thanks! Hope your having a great day so far!

    Thank you 2011rocket3touring!
  • Congratulations on reaching your goals! I'm sure it makes picking toys up off the floor a lot easier! My sons are 6 (twins) and are now aware that mommy has 'fat arms' and a 'big belly'. I hear these words almost every day. I make light of it but deep down it hurts. Thankfully you'll never hear those words from your children :). Amazing results! Thanks for sharing!

I use to hear the "are you having another baby, Mommy" comment from my children as well. Thank GOD that's over and will never return if I have Anything to say about it!! Lol smh.

Finishwhatustart, you too CAN have those words be a thing of the past as well.. just KEEP GOING!

It's funny how words from a 6 year old can hurt like hell! After I had my youngest, My 5 year old said "I thought after you had the baby your tummy would go down. You still look like you have a baby in there".......... probably due to hormones, I instantly started crying and she then got upset, that she had upset me but didn't know why. It was a mess. Lol

Why don't you tell them that it upsets you when they say things like that? They might not be aware that that is something that can hurt someone's feelings. I feel as parents we shy away from being vulnerable in front of our kids, but sometimes it could be what they need to realize the impact they can have on someone.

By the way, I love your username!!!
  • You're right. I talked with one of my sons after he started sqeezing my arm like he does just before he tells me how fat they are. He hugged me and said he was sorry he hurt my feelings. If it weren't for your post, that wouldn't have happened so thank you! You're an inspiration and give great advice too!

Thank you so much! Seriously, those are very kind words, and I'm proud of you for having that conversation with your son. I know it can probably be a little awkward and may have even made you feel down about recognizing out loud that it does hurt your feelings. I commend you for that.
