I need to add music to my playlist. I prefer a more hardcore song for lifting.

What's on your playlist?

One of the strength coaches does actually play country and I've gotten used to it.

Collective Soul Where the River Flows. I like the song, plus -- although it's not about lifting, the lyrics are kind of perfect:

    Give me a moment
Got to get this weight up off my chest
    Don't feed me sorrow
    Pain is a poison I digest …

I am doing battle with myself when I'm lifting. No distractions ... Don't want to lose focus ... Silence, but for the sound of metal when it clangs.

A couple of my neighbours own Harleys or souped up trucks, so I always need to stall my lifting until they've completely gone or parked (we tend to lift late at night or early morning - same schedule), as we workout in the converted garage. Too loud.

I've gotten really into metal with female vocals lately. These are some of my favorites:

Either silence or just the radio for me. When the radio is on, it doesn't matter too much what's playing music-wise or if it's talking or an advertisement.

I listen to electronic music and pick either trance or happy hardcore for lifting, depending on my mood. Happy hardcore for cardio, especially running -- it's always close to 180 bpm so it really helps with running in short, fast steps (high cadence).

Typing mine out was my cardio for yesterday.

    Disturbed
    Coroner
    Judas Priest
    t.A.T.u.
    Christina Perri
    Fates Warning
    Dream Theater
    Queensryche
    Lady Gaga
    Thin Lizzy
    Megadeth
    Sa-Fire

And more. But, yeah - lots of different things. Really, the music gets tuned out during the lifts. It's more for rest periods. That said, if I'm going for a big lift - I want Disturbed's Avarice playing just before.
