Hello,
I live in So Cal. and when its NOT 100 degree miserable days outside I LOVE doing outdoor fitness ... My FAVORITES are:

1. Frisbee (LOVE IT - I thought my boyfriend was joking when he said he joined "Ultimate Frisbee" as a sport but its really good cardio and a fun sport with very few injuries haha)
2. Bike Riding
3. Walking my 2 Chihuahua/Terriers with my boyfriend
4. Hiking
5. Basketball (Like horse or 1 on 1, not a professional game LOL)

How about anyone else? Suggestions? Anyone else play any of the above stuff too?

Thanks!

I picked up Water Aerobics this summer, and it is great! It is such a great change of pace from higher-impact workouts. And even when I am sweating a ton I can't even tell because I'm in the water! And what is really great is that anyone can do water aerobics, and it is totally customizable based on how much effort you put in.

Uhhh, none. It was 112 here on Saturday. Morning (5:30am) lows have been in the mid-70s. I'm doing nothing outside right now, lol

HAHA oh I know!!! Anything over 90 is just misery! :)
  • Bike riding, bike riding and more bike riding. I like hiking too, if I can take a break from bike riding :). Thankfully, I ride near the SoCal coast, so it doesn't get as hot as it does inland.

That sounds like a blast! My boyfriend swims all the time and has been trying to get me to join him... It really doesn't seem like swimming would be tough but it really is a workout!!! Do you do Water Aerobics in a gym pool or outdoors? My local gym offers classes, I just gotta do it already! :-)

Oh how nice! My boyfriend and I like to pack up our bikes and go to Santa Barbara, Ventura, Santa Monica, Etc... To bike ride because on warm days, well actually any days (lol), the beaches are just so beautiful to bike ride along, not to mention that is a good butt kicking workout! :-)

The class I take is at 8pm and is at an outdoor pool. Apparently it is mainly a stay-at-home mom thing or an retired person thing because 99% of the classes are during the day, during the week. I have had the most intense 60-minute workout and muscle burn from a water exercise class, compared to all the other types of exercise I've done. I have found that I can do more quality isolated ab work in the pool than anywhere else.

Those are great places to ride. I stay pretty local just because of gas prices. But yeah, since I live in Camarillo, I have a lot of farmland to ride around in, so stoplights and signs and car traffic are at a minimum. And at least once a week, I'll ride out to Neptune's Net in Malibu, which makes for a 36+ mile roundtrip ride.

Any chance my boyfriend and I get to eat in Malibu we take it LOL .... A wonderful bike ride then a pit stop at Malibu's Seafood, that sounds perfect right about now :-)

Our gym has an indoor pool with classes! I have just got to get up and make myself take one of their classes already :)

    Do eeeeet!

So on my Neptune ride last Tues, I got behind this other biker at around Mugu Rock in Port Hueneme. I trailed him all the way down the PCH till we got to Neptune's where we both stopped. Although it was my long ride day (41.3 miles logged that day), it was a short ride day for him. He had started that morning in Santa Barbara and was planning on stopping at Leo Cabrillo Beach. But that's not all. He was hoping to hit Mexico by Friday (yesterday). Wait! There's more! He's actually been on the road for the last 4 weeks now, having started all the way up in Canada, just him, his Surly hybrid w/2 panneirs and his paper maps. Talk about hardcore.
