Dieting

Hiya my name is Marisela and I'm here today hoping to get some help/support from some of you. So, this past year, I've lost around 60 pounds by restricting the amount of simple carbohydrates and sugars I consumed, but I feel like this type of "dieting" is not going to last much longer. The restrictions I placed on myself were not meant to last for a lifetime, and now I'm looking for a better option to lose more weight. I was thinking about going for a plant based diet, but I do not know how or where to start. If you've done or are just starting a plant based diet or have any other dieting options you'd like to suggest, I'd love to hear! Any tips/advice would be really helpful, thanks!

How about logging your food daily and eating what you want as long as you stay within calories.
Eating fewer calories than you are using in a day is the way to weight loss. You can still have simple carbs...maybe not the entire pie, but still have pie now and then.0 -

I eat vegetarian 3-4 days out of the week (to include eggs and dairy) and in general eat a pretty substantively plant based diet...keep in mind that "plant based" doesn't mean just a bunch of veggies and some fruit...a lot of my vegetarian meals are actually more calorie dense than if I were to just grill some fish and have a side of roasted vegetables or something...
I eat a lot of lentils and beans and potatoes and sweet potatoes...these things are typically staples of a plant based diet and can be calorie dense...also, you need to make sure you're getting enough dietary fat for proper nutrition.
All this really to say that it can be a very nutritious way to eat, but it's not necessarily low calorie and most certainly doesn't default to weight loss.1 -

Thanks for the suggestion, I'll look more into this option. Although I have tried a basic form of calorie counting before, and, let's just say, it didn't go so well lol!0 -

I've seen quite a few documentaries that have shown, not only weight loss, but also drastic health improvements to your body. It just all depends on how you eat within the plant based foods you are given. Yes, beans and starches play a huge role into a plant based diet, but it should not be the main foods that you consume within the diet. My focus is going to be to highlight the fruits/veggies within my meal and add beans and or brown rice as a side.0 -
Damn this probably explains why the scale doesn't seem to be moving. I've been trying to give up grains/gluten to see if my allergies wud calm down so I was filling up on beans And lentils cuz it seemed convenient to make huge pots of em, freeze them and just reheat as needed. Oh well, I was expecting to take my time figuring out the food thing so it's not all that bad. Thanks for the heads up and best of luck everyone.cwolfman13 wrote: »...
