Ok so after much debate I purchased this Almond milk. I like almonds....I like milk delicious right? WRONG! I really hate the after taste, but worst yet I got it to mix with my soy Protein powder annnnnd it wont mix in!! I cant drink a whole cup without cringing but I like the fact that it has less sugar and calories than regular Fat free milk. Any suggestions on new powders that DO mix in or ways to improve it? ( I also do not want to waste this whole carton it was like 4 dollars)

side note: Not against smoothie ideas as long as they are simple.

I think almond milk is an aquired taste--especially since it's thickness isn't really anything like 2% milk or something of that kind. I don't know if you are wanting to get off the regular milk because of the calories? Or if its a health thing...but, if you're willing and able, I have a great almond milk recipe if you want it!

Try it in cereal... I can't tell the difference b/w almond milk and regular skim milk there. By itself it does taste a bit odd... but I've gotten to where I can put up with it.

What kind did you get? I get the unsweetened vanilla or chocolate almond milk by Almond Breeze and add Stevia to it. I actually like it. I use it for my protein shakes and even with a shaker, it doesn't seem to mix all the way. I don't mind it though. It's definitely an aquired taste. :)

Do you have a blender ball cup? If not you need one. I love the unsweeted almond milk mixed with my whey protein powder. I have it just about every morning for breakfast. It is also great in smoothies. My favorite is a cup of almond milk, a scoop of vanilla protein powder, strawberries and a little ice and you are good to go. This works well with just about any berries, peaches, mandarin oranges you name it.

I like mine in my hot tea, gives it a creaminess and a bit of an "amaretto" flavor.

So if you drink hot tea or coffee maybe?

I like Almond milk, but then again I never have tried it straight. I use it to mix with my GNC protein power, but I also use a blender to mix it with. Then in the morning I put it in the freezer for about 15 mins then whip it again before drinking. So maybe that helps...

If you're looking for a good non-dairy milk, there are many choices nowadays. If you want creamy and rich, try hempmilk. Coconut milk (So Delicious is my fave brand) is good too if you like creamy and rich. If you want something closer to skim cow milk (a bit watery and thin), you could try rice milk. There are also oat milks and hazlenut milks but I haven't tried them. I like Almond Breeze almond milk - maybe you just need to try a different brand. It mixes great in the blender with my shake powders. Buy the aseptic (unrefrigerated) cartons - they're smaller and thus cheaper. Almond Breeze is usually around $2 where I live.

I drink the almond breeze unsweetened vanilla, love it! My sis-in-law tried one by silk and said it had an after taste.

I use a blender and have very little problem with mixing. I put the powder in first, 1 cup of fresh or frozen fruit and a cup of almond milk. I pulse a few times and then set it at the highest speed for about a minute. Frozen fruit will make your shake really thick. If I'm craving ice cream I do this and eat it from a bowl with a spoon. I have found that the Almond Breeze works best, but soy milk is good in these shakes too.
  • Trader joes refrigerated unsweetened vanilla almond milk is flipping amazing...very smooth and creamy:smile: Try a few different brands they are all different!
  • If it's Silk brand almond milk, you can email them and they'll send you a check for what you paid for it. I'm super frugal and hated the stuff so I wrote in. :) For a good non-milk substitute, I'd recommend vanilla soymilk. Doesn't exactly taste like milk but it's really good and tastes great with all sorts of different things you'd want to blend in with it. Good luck!

I freeze it in an ice cube tray and use it for creamer in my coffee.

It is the silk brand and it is not good haha. I wanted something low in sugar not necessarily in calories. But, I want to be able to drink it too. I did mix it with yogurt and blue berries and it was not too bad but still had a funny taste. Thank you for all the ideas !!!!! you guys were a great help :)

Try blending it in a blender instead of just stirring it. That might help it a lot. Even a shaker bottle with the ball inside of it really helps dissolve the protein powder.

I like Almond Milk and understand how you feel about the after taste of it. It's something to get used to. I usually used Almond Milk in my protein shakes and it has turned out pretty good.

I have found almond milk needs to be VERY cold. Almond breeze is the best.
