Hi guys!

I just wanted to get your opinion or something.

When it asks about my activity level i don't know what to put - sedentary or lightly active? so i wondered what you all thought my activity level would be if i told you what i do.

I work in an office 8.30am - 5:15pm Monday - Sat (20min walk there and sometimes back), then a couple of nights a week i work as an exercise instructor doing 1 or 2 1hour classes.

So do i say im sedentary, then log the exercise, or do i say im lightly active and not log the exercise?

I'm confused >.<

Ideas anyone?

Thanks!
Katie

That's what I do . I work in an office 9-5, but am able to go out and walk. I put sendetary and my walks go toward my exercise. It's sometimes the only time I can walk. I'm self employed so I can be flexible. Good luck Katie!

I'm in something of the same position. I find that doing either gives about the same result. If you say you are sedentary, the fewer calories you'll get might encourage you to exercise more.

if you're an exercise instructor and walk several hours a week, I wouldn't call that a sedentary lifestyle - maybe not an athlete but sedentary is basically NOT MOVING- these are ppl who drive to the mailbox, that's sedentary

Sounds a lot like me. I elected 'sendatary' and count everything active.... even cleaning the house!

I'd count the walking towards activity level (lightly active) and not log the daily it as exercise, but would log the exercise classes.

I would do sedentary and log the exercise.
I personally view the lightly active category more of one for someone who might have to walk a lot during their work day, a construction worker would be one as I view as very active... just my point of view on this category.

I work 9-5. Power walk 20 min. on my lunches. I considered myself sedentary because 8 hours is a long time with no REAL activity. I log my lunch walks and my workouts as extra. So I'd do that with your fitness class as well... :)

I think the active choices are for those who do a lot of moving around durring their day that would be difficult to log. It is one thing to walk a set distance or time. It is another to be up and down back and forth, start, stop, ect. This is just the way I look at it. I too sit at a desk for 8 hrs with a one hour break, in wich I walk. This is easy to document.
