As far as sticking with it, you need to find the motivation and dedication to get past the hard times from within. A lot of people around here have had the same issue, but had an "aha" moment that it all just clicked. Sometimes it takes several do overs for that moment.
In the mean time, make small changes over a period of time instead of everything all at once. That all or nothing mentality can often be a killer that can have even the best of the best feeling like failures. Set small goals for yourself, and most of all, believe that you can do it.2 -

I'm like that as well. I get discouraged super easily. I find that whenever I weight in, if I see my weight haven't fluctuate the way I want, or/and for the effort I made during the week, I get frustrated, discouraged and binge eat what I can find at the moment. That's why, tomorrow will be the first and last time I'll step on the scale. I'll judge my weight loss with clothes and just how I feel overall. I don't plan on weighing again for at least 2 or 3 months, the time my body gets to the healthy eating and working out regularly. If you wish to add me, go for it, I'm around 220 now and wish to lose 70 pounds2 -
I am in the same boat. I get so discouraged and binge eat, too. I am also a stress eater. I have been trying to figure out ways to deal with my stress other than eating. I need to start again and stay motivated. I need to do this as my health is suffering. I am over 200 lbs and want to lose about 80 lbs.1

Log your food accurately. Just do that for a week or two. Then study your food diary and see if you can find some things that you didn't need and can do without. Keep doing that. Eventually you'll decided to do without all the stuff that is high-calorie and low-nutrition. Eventually you will decide to do some exercising, drink some extra water, and learn to cook new things. But all that is for later. For now, just log your food accurately.4

I was on that hamster wheel forever and I had all or nothing thinking. I have changed that thinking. One night or even a day of getting off track doesn't undo a week or twos worth of work as long as you keep going. Never give up just keep trying. My fitness pal is set to 1750 caps but I know if I have 2,000 some days that's okay to as long as I don't give up. I think I have to have over 2,700 to gain and like 6,000 cals to even gain 2 pound. You don't have to be perfect just do it!1

LOVE that!!!! I'm an all or nothing kinda girl too! But your thinking is great!! I'll for sure remember that! One bad day doesn't mean a bad week! Just like one bad meal doesn't mean a bad day either0 -

Just make responsible choices one day at a time and you will reach your goals. Just remember that it is not a race and there is no time limit. You absolutely can do this.2

Stop giving up.
It's not over until you stop fighting. I've started over a million times myself because I keep giving up. I have one bad day or one bad week and I just give up.
Not anymore. If I have a bad meal or bad day or even a bad week I still log and I just keep going. I don't use overeating as an excuse to keep overeating.
I also had to realize I was restricting myself too much before. Making foods "good" and "bad" in my head. Not letting myself eating the foods I loved and trying to eat too few calories.
I have MFP set up to a modest 1 lb a week deficit now, I eat whatever I want as long as it fits into my calories, and in general I'm much happier and it's much easier.
I have changed some things - like my water consumption and I go to the gym now, but don't bog yourself down with doing too much at once. You didn't gain the weight in a day you won't lose it in a day.
Be patient, be consistent, and be kind to yourself. You've got this.0 -
I know how you feel. You need to make this a lifestyle change. It's almost a mind game. You constantly have to fight the urge and say NO and stand tall and not let your inner voice win. After a while, things will get much easier and you will start seeing the change in the mirror, in photos, in your clothes, in your confidence, etc... and saying NO to that inner voice will get so much easier. It boils down to a choice, that is all it is, a choice. You choose to eat within your calorie limit or you don't. It may take a long time, but you will notice that the fatty foods, junk food, etc., are not that appealing anymore. Believe in yourself0
