The goal isn't to eat til you are full, but eat to supress the hunger. Because you should be eating again within 3 hours. Portion control is important

If eating every 3 hours works for you, that's great. It isn't necessary for everyone.
And I think you made a typo as no one eats til they are hungry.2 -

It's great that that plan works for you.
That plan may or may not work for other people. There are many paths to a satisfactory result. There is no one true way.2 -
Why should I be eating every 3 hours? Today I'm only eating twice with no snacks and it works nicely with my schedule and calorie targets.2

I eat twice a day which it is easier for me to maintain my weight. Whatever works for you, cool!2

Nobody said THIS IS HOW IT'S DONE. I apologize for using the word SHOULD. But it is a great starting point for people who are clueless on how to begin. Just like walking helps excercise and maintain weight, so do weights, so does running, the stairmaster.

The thing is everyone has their own goals. I can't tell you what yours should be, just like you couldn't possibly guess what my goals should be. My goals don't include worrying about if I eat one time or three times, that actually has zero bearing on the things I'm striving for at this time.2

If I only ate every 3 hours Id never reach my goal, especially if i utilized, "portion control," so I feel like this more or less implodes with quite a few individuals on here. I barely reach my goal by eating every 1-2 hours and right up until bed.0 -
Its kind of counter productive.
I downloaded the app to help with my calorie intake because i never counted calories before. I later discovered that this is an app to help , motivate, and inform. So i decided to share what has worked for me, apologized for using the wrong terminology and yet still get negative feedback and several replies. Thanks for proving that i should solely give advice to those seeking it. The negative responses don't affect my goals, Im not here because im overweight or struggling or feel like giving up. I WAS gonna help, but ill just go back to using this app as a calorie counter only.0 -
If you think you are getting negative feedback, then this community may not be for you. We are a bunch of very savvy people on here and know that there is not one true way achieve success.

If I ate just to suppress my hunger, I'd be losing weight at a good clip. Though I'd love to eat every 3 hours, I prefer meals over snacks.

People often skip to the end and don't read the entire thread. Right or wrong, it happens. So yes, you will get replies saying your wrong based on "should" as it does sound like you are saying that is the only way.
Also, I'm not struggling nor overweight either, so props to you. It feels good doesn't it?1 -

But your first post didn't really do this. If weight loss is someone's goal then they need to eat at the correct calorie deficit for those goals-that's it. Meal timing/frequency is a preference thing and varies between individuals. When someone says people should time their meals a certain way it's confusing to those who are just starting out. And there's nothing wrong with eating until full, as long as your hitting your calorie targets. I regularly eat until full, because I've been doing this long enough to know what foods have a high satiety level for me. This actually makes things easier for me, because I'm not wrestling with hunger.
OP-MFP has a very large, diverse group of people and we have many different goals. There's also many of us who are very successful with our weight, health and fitness goals, so when a newbie posts something that's a little off, it's going to get questioned. Don't take it personally, and if you stick around you'll probably really enjoy the forums, and may even learn a few things2 -
Ive been trying every opportunity to learn from others whether it's in the gym, kitchen, or running these past 4 yrs into fitness. And ive learned numerous ways to gain weight, lose weight, tone muscle, shred muscle, or gain muscle. And im still learning, and loving it. But im more of the type to empower, inspire, motivate, inform, and learn from others rather than being selective on someone's views and being savvy.
