Just wondering if anybody here who lost a big/small amount of weight saw a reduce in cellulite appearance? I hope that on my journey the cellulite on the back of my thighs and butt area goes down before I go ahead a buy a bunch of expensive creams lol. I thought I always had cellulite because I have thick thighs and butt lol.
If you want I would love to see before and after pictures too of your cellulite if you have any!
Thanks!

I did notice an improvement, but it didn't disappear entirely and likely never will.
There are no creams that work. Save your money.12 -
Nope. I have cellulite in the same area and even at 5' 6" and 120 lbs it was still there. Sorry ;(5

Gone completely? No. Some improvement? Definitely.
Here's a comparison I made in 2015 specifically zoomed into my legs.
The 2013 picture isn't my heaviest. I didn't start taking progress pictures until 2013 (my heaviest was in 2012).24 -
I lost 45 pounds and my cellulite looks much better (my BMI in my maintenance range is 19.5-19.7 or so; I don't have much in the way of hips or a butt, in fact, my waist is one pants size larger than my rear end!). I admit to having tried creams in the past (all price ranges) and they're not worth it. Basically nothing happens except your wallet gets lighter. Am hoping to see continued improvement as I incorporate more strength training in my workouts and build a little muscle, but am honestly just happy to have shed all the weight I put on during grad school.5

@shadow2soul Looking good!1

I had a lot of cellulite on my legs for a very long time.
A couple of years of strength-training with moderate - heavy weights (squats, lunges, deadlifts etc.), lots of fast fitness walking daily got rid of most of my visible leg cellulite.
A couple more years into maintenance my legs became totally smooth and free of cellulite.
I used no oils, creams or gadgets etc. I just needed to stay consistent and have lots of patience. It took years to get rid of.12 -
Gone? Nope. But WAY better. Like 75% reduction.3

Pretty much everyone has cellulite. The creams don't work.

It will NEVER go away, but the appearance can be reduced with weight loss. Also NO TOPICALS will rid you of it, so don't spend money on creams, scrubs, wraps, etc.

I didn't take specific pictures, not my favorite area of my body. But after going down to 150-153 from 220 something, it's way better, and I'm comfortable enough to wear short shorts, which i don't think i was ever able to wear. So definitely happy with the progress.2

Yes, it decreased fairly quickly and disappeared even when I was still obese as a result of heavy lifting.
In a previous attempt at weight loss with only cardio I kept shrinking overall and the cellulite stayed.5 -
Just my personal experience, but my cellulite always decreases in appearance as I lose weight. Exercise seems to further diminish the appearance of cellulite. I don't think mine will ever be fully gone, but even after 13 lbs loss I can notice a difference in my legs.0

Mine was fairly bad before I started dieting and now I'm more or less at my goal weight it isn't completely gone but I would say it's about 90% better than it was.0
-
Thanks for all your replies it makes me feel better. Congrats to you all who were able to get rid of them at least a little bit. I think I'll start doing more squats and lunges!1
-
Nope, mine is still there. But it is SLOWLY going away with strength training and exercise in general.1

Thanks for posting this thread! It's given me lots of hope for my thighs and bum0

Cellulite is the result of subcutaneous fat "squeezing through" the layer of fibrous connective tissue that gives structure and firmness to your skin. It makes sense that in some cases you can reduce the appearance of cellulite by reducing fat, but you will always have some subcutaneous fat and once you get through puberty that connective tissue naturally starts to loosen.
It occurs in the skin of up to 98% of all post-pubescent women, so it's not a sign of something going wrong or of you not taking proper care of yourself. It's normal. Anyone who says anything about it should just shut the kitten up and deal with it. Anyone selling you a cream or a pill or a program to get rid of it is trying to rip you off.11 -
I can't speak from experience in losing weight and cellulite disappearing, but back in my skinny days (5' 4", 120 pounds) I had cellulite on my thighs and the only time I got it to go away was when I started training my legs for soccer. Building muscle seems to be a pretty decent "remedy".1

I lost a lot a weight and acually gained some cellulite.
But its only now that im lifting that its going away.2 -

I've seen a reduction in my cellulite by like 60 percent after dropping 30 pounds. I attribute this to diet and weight training. I have 40 more pounds to loose so I'm expecting it to go away in a few years with continued strength training0 -
It'll never go away entirely, but you can definitely improve its apprearance. Mine looks a lot better but it's still there. I've been concentrating on lowering my body fat and doing a lot of strength training. Between the two it's definitely helping, but it's taking alot of patience and perseverance.....

There's definitely been improvement since I started losing weight and adhering to a regular exercise program.0

Cellulite is caused by fibrous septa. These fibers are beneath the skin and connect from the skin to the fascia. Some of these are not as soft as in other areas of the body. The buttocks and thighs (especially on females) are one area where they are most obvious. Any amount of fat between these makes them yet even more apparent. There are procedures that can reduce the appearance of cellulite by stretching these fibers but the effect is temporary. Most of us would need to lose all but the amount of body fat needed to survive in order to completely eliminate the appearance of cellulite with out a procedure. Other people may have better luck depending on the elasticity of these fibers. The tendency of the pucker effect of these fibers seems to be all that concerns most people, which is why no one cares about these fibers in most places on their body. Some people find that massage helps as it moves the subcutaneous fat around over a period of time.3

A lot has to do with diet and the kind of muscle tone underneath the fat layer, as far as my research goes. Even at my skinniest, I had some cellulite on my thighs (never on my bum) but when I hit my 30's I found it creeping further up my thighs and onto my bum, and now in my 40's I have seen some improvement when I drop some weight, but have seen the most change in it when I eat correctly.
We ALL have it - just some more than others.
Pity we can't walk around with an airbrush and photoshop0 -
I'm nearly 50 and I lost 80 lbs and ran a shitload of miles, and I have no cellulite left, just some wrinkles, which I'm proud of.1

I had major cellulite, it's almost completely gone. I credit collagen (I put it in my oatmeal), because my body fat isn't that low (25%).2

Collagen! Yes! I should have added this in my reply above.
I've been putting collagen in my daily protein smoothie (it's tasteless) for the past couple of years.
I also credit it to helping improving my skin's elasticity and reducing the cellulite.2 -

My boyfriend works in the laser industry and they sell the only FDA approved cellulite lazer removal, and they basically stout that it's the ONLY thing that can actually eliminate cellulite instead of reduce it. That being said, I started off with a good amount of cellulite (not terrible, but I noticed it) and now that is almost completely gone with the exception of one deep dimple that I get when I stand in "lunge" position. I weight train, I don't have much BF. But it's still there -_- I'm just accepting it. LOL0 -
Mine has diminished quite a bit, but I have so much loose skin on my thighs that my legs will never exactly be worth displaying in anything revealing.0
-
Instead of collagen, I drink a lot of bone broth (chicken or beef). I make it myself, bones are super cheap from the butcher. Seems to make my skin look better...is that helping with reduced cellulite on my legs (not sure if it's the skin or just less fat).1
