XMas food: Turkey, Chicken or Lamb ??

Christmas Eve: vegetarian lasagna, pasta puttanesca, antipasto, salad, and Grilled New York steaks.
Christmas: big brunch in the morning; roasted turkey breast and many fabulous appetizers in the late afternoon/evening.
Desserts galore.
We always do turkey on Christmas and Italian Christmas Eve.1 -
I do ham ..
I make chicken for Easter and once TG is over turkey is dead to me unless I'm making a wrap with some low calz and I don't eat anything as cute as a lamb.. thats why I don't eat venison
So ham
And I'm doing an apple cider glaze.. never did a glaze for a ham. I'm not a fan of the brown sugar thing.
I get smoked ham so is that a bad idea? I was thinking salty and sweet

That said, my dad loves the stuff.. I've actually bought him a few novelty Guinness things as a stocking filler for Christmas! Lol

Turkey.... Always turkey! And seafood (popular in Australia). We don't usually do ham, but we're having quite a few people so having ham as well.0

I just did the shopping today
The menu is hickory smoked ham
Turkey which I'll brine in maple syrup and cider
Mashed potatoes and peas (cause it is all my brother eats)
Two types of dressing
Roasted Brussels sprouts
Home made rolls
And maybe some other veggie. Perhaps carrots for some colour.
Then desserts1 -
My husband who is Icelandic would love Hangikjöt, smoked lamb leg, with mashed potatoes and peas. It's impossible to find here in Arizona, as is Rúllupylsa, a rolled lamb flank sausage. And Hardfish. Sadly, for me, it seems that since American Thanksgiving is so close to Christmas, ham is the meal of choice for the Christmas holiday. I'd rather enjoy a turkey again......2

I would pick turkey or if I had to chicken. Not a fan of lamb. My family is doing prime rib this year but I am going to bring a turkey breast so we can have both because I don't eat beef (just hate the taste). I also like ham for Christmas - honey baked is awesome - but my aunt and cousin both stopped eating ham all of a sudden so this is the first year we won't be having it.0

Um....there isn't one. I'll just dump stuff in the pot and hope for the best. it's how I usually do it. I'll add some sage too and garlic and onions. I think it'll be yummy1 -
My mother-in-law made what she called "drunken turkey " with tons of brandy. It was delicious and soooo juicy.
"Brining in maple syrup and cider" sounds quite sophisticated... and delicious.0 -

I've never had lamb before;I would love to try it though. In the south you don't hear of anyone eating lamb really. We usually have extremely dry turkey or ham.1

I tried bacon on the turkey once -- it was good but didn't look quite right. I love lamb but I'd be terrified to try and cook it.

Instead of doing sweet and smokey with my ham I decided to just baste it in beer. Its one of my classic approaches to a Christmas ham0
