    Hi caverloop,

Sorry I don't know much about your condition, but I too am trying to lose weight.

My grandma (rip) had severe arthritis and was obese. She found seated yoga really helped and not only did she lose a lot of weight but she felt so much better with her condition.

I suggest setting short term goals for yourself, do exercises you feel comfortable with and see your Dr/a nutritionist about a specific diet to meet your needs.

Here's a link to an example of seated yoga:

Good luck and feel free to friend me if you like

Losing weight is a straightforward matter of consuming fewer calories than you burn. Tracking your meals with MFP can help you figure out how much you are eating, and being mindful of what you are eating can help you eat less.

You may have to experiment a little to figure out what calorie targets allow you to eat enough to feel ok while still losing weight, as you are almost certainly burning less than average in a wheelchair, but I imagine there are resources out there to help you figure that out.

Just living burns calories, so exercise is not necessary to lose weight, but some seated exercises may help you burn more calories, feel better, and retain more muscle mass as you lose weight.

Hi, @caverloop. I read up on your condition. Yoga might not be the best if you can hyperextend your joints.

Even if you are mostly sedentary you can still lose weight by carefully controlling your calories.
