I love to eat. I have noticed that the more I make the decisions to change my habits the easier it's become to not think too much about it. It still creeps up on me though.

Yeah I am like this sometimes in the regards to meal planning or just generally mulling over thoughts of food and what is coming next, I don't think this is anything to worry about in particular.

However, if you are unable to stop thinking about food cause you feel hungry, listless, tummy rumbles or any large amount of discomfort then it may be time to rethink your deficit. Are you aiming for 2 lbs a week?? Eating the min. requirments set by MFP to get weight loss over 'quicker'?? If so, upping your calories and slowing your loss is wise.

If your CI are fine then it could be just early days, many people feel a little bit hungry till they settle into the groove of weightloss. If it continues and is a real issue maybe you could try playing with the percent of proteins, fats and carbs to help with satiety. I would say make sure to hit your protein and fat for the day and let carbs fall where they will...others feel fuller with a lot more carbs than that.

I may need to play around with my macros and maybe if I pre plan I wont have to think about it so much

Probably. But I've always been obsessed with it too. You just have to find ways to work with it (just because you think about food doesn't mean you have to eat it NOW, but you can instead look up recipes and plan your meals).

Depend on how "always" it is. If you can't switch your thoughts to other topics at need or it interferes with work/daily life you may need to get some help.

I think about food a lot, but it doesn't interfere with work/social stuff/my hobby time/doing tax paperwork/sleep if you see what I mean.

Thinking you need to eat when you know you don't is a cognitive problem - it's your thoughts that are sabotaging you. For the behavioral part of your lifestyle change, I suggest you invest in a copy of "The Beck Diet Solution" by Judith Beck. It uses solid cognitive behavioral approaches to help you start thinking like a thin person.

If you don't want to go the self-help route, find a good cognitive therapist in your area who works with weight loss.

Food is like air .. you don't miss it unless it's gone ...when I'm eating breakfast I'm thinking about what's for lunch .. don't read too much into it ..

    Good luck

Meghanebk brings up a good point: Are you thinking of food so much that it's interfering with other aspects of your life? Are your thoughts of food causing you to overeat, or do you just notice that you're thinking about food when you're not hungry (and you find that odd)?

In my opinion, these thoughts would not be a cause for concern in and of themselves, but if they're having a negative impact on your well-being, then it's worth trying to displace them. Interesting post!
