Is it considered fattenin to eat one whole avocado with 2 pieces of bread at once and a whole egg?

It'd be hard for me to fit a whole avocado AND an egg. Sometimes I make room for a whole avocado but it's a splurge for me for sure. You gotta weigh them...they are calorie dense. The fat doesn't matter so much, only in the sense that fat has 9 calories per gram and you want to be sure to stay in a calorie deficit to lose weight.

Same answer as all of your other threads. Individual foods are not fattening by themselves. What matters is how they fit into the rest of the foods you eat in a day.

    Exaaaactlyyyyy.

I heard that if you eat it with 1 1/2 pieces of bread, it then has zero calories.

    What about with cake?

Cake, avacado and egg? Sounds revolting. Would definitely be zero calories after throwing up.

I love avocado and I eat one every other day with breakfast or in a salad. I think as long as it fits in with your daily calorie/macro goals then it's fine. They are calorie dense though but I find them filling. The ones I buy from Waitrose are roughly 240 calories each or 150g weighed! Avocados are life!!

No particular food is "fattening"...consuming more energy (calories) than you require is fattening.

Avocados are calorie dense for sure...but they're also nutritional powerhouses.

Actually, I used to make a "cake" with almond flour, various spices, and a little pesto that paired well with avocado and egg. It was a staple snack when I was running keto.

These days my cakes tend to involve more protein powder and dextrose, and yeah, that would probably suck with avocado.

    For potassium right?

Potassium, plus fiber, and what are often termed "good" fats, phytosterols, folate, many of the B vitamins, and vitamin K.

No, of course not. It's calorie dense, but means that you need to either (1) lessen your intake the rest of the day so that you stay within your calorie goals or (2) eat less another day, or a few days, so that you stay in your calorie goals to lose weight.

Op, this is misinformation! You meal will have zero calories only if you eat 1 1/3 pieces of bread!

    I'm sure that's what Noel meant. :D

It's calorie dense, but you only need to worry about decreasing your intake in other meals/snacks or other days if it's going to cause you to go over your goals, and even then only if (1) your goal is to lose or maintain weight, (2) your goal isn't unreasonably low, and (3) you aren't already eating below your goal most days.

Just saying, b/c the tone of the OP (worrying about individual foods being fattening) doesn't suggest he should be encouraged to automatically reduce calories to make up for eating a perfectly normal meal of egg and avocado on toast.

Correct. That is why I put in the "OR".

Going over one day isn't going to hurt, but it's good practice to learn how to stay in our goals no matter what your goals are. Just sayin. :)

First time through I read that as "...my cakes tend to involve more protein powder and detoxes.. and I thought "tell me noooooooooooo! he didn't really go to the dark side did he?"

I've eaten a whole avocado with two slices of bread, and two whole eggs for breakfast before. It was delicious. If it fits, I eat :D.

I may be misunderstanding your response, but if I'm not, I don't think you understood my point, which was that people who worry that a perfectly normal sandwich is "fattening" may not have a healthy relationship with food or may not have a good understanding that a "calorie goal" is something to aim for, not a ceiling to be avoided by as many calories as possible, and thus should not be encouraged to cut calories elsewhere to make up for it without emphasizing the factors they should consider in determining whether they actually need to cut calories elsewhere.
