How much time do you spend on MFP forums?

I was curious to know if I am the only one who just reads the recent posts every time I log into MFP to update my food diary? As there are literally hundreds of thousands of us using this site that makes for a VERY large community. Obviously I realise that I am only going to catch a small percentage of the the messages that fly through the message board whenever I am logged on....also there is the USA/European time divide...when one nation sleeps the other wakes.... so we are not all around at the same time of day. I love being able to dip into MFP two or three times a day and looking for any new information that catches my eye. Is it ok for a member to make a contribution to the message boards if they have not made their diary available for everybody to look at?..Also do you have to be a 'friend' to be part of the forum exchanges.....I am quite a private person so I am not into facebook, twitter or any of the other social networking mobile/cyber activities for that matter, but I do enjoy being part of the MFP family, even if it is just as a 'read only' member. This site has helped me enormously with my weight loss struggles and it is so informative. Just wondering if there are others like me out there?

I sadly am on this all the time. I think I can use a quote from my friend on facebook:

"In the middle of the night Facebook is a lot like a fridge. When you’re bored you keep opening and closing it every couple of minutes to see if there’s anything good."

But for me it is more all day long.... I guess it's better than looking in the fridge every time I'm bored though. Good change from the 'old me'.

I'm obsessed with it!!! You can participate as much or as little as you want! Initially I only had the app on my. Phone and didn't realize that you could talk on the forum, so one day this past week I went on with my iPad and it has opened a new world for me! You don't have to have friends on it or keep your diary open if yo u don't want to. Some of my friends have closed diaries, and that is ok. Sometimes I just read and sometimes I respond like now, and sometimes I post if I have a question.

I like reading forum & blog posts.
    They are encouraging & helpful.
I don't read them as often as I did when I first started though.

I couldn't have put it better myself....yes it is just like a fridge...you keep looking to see if there is anything different in there! We do tend to see the same 'newbie dilemma's' over and over again on the forums but that is to be expected and I remember asking the same questions myself once.....but yes.....every now and again we get a really nice treat!
