Losing weight, at college

Does anyone have any advice for trying to lose weight while at college and on a meal contract or done this before? I'm buying my own food right now since it's break but I'm kind of worried for when next semester starts up since outside of meat options (which are usually pretty much fast food anyway) the hall foods are primarily like... cheese and carbohydrate based or similar.

The meal contract is mandatory for dorms and I'm only able to move out next year.

I lost a ton of weight in college - I had a free gym and gym buddies to motivate me everyday.

Also, we had a salad bar at lunch and dinner. I'd usually start with a salad/veggies of some sort, and round out my meal with some kind of protein and sometimes a small starchy food. Broth based soups were also available sometimes.

A good plan! The salad bar here is rather... Bad. Its not very good but maybe I could try exploring the other residence halls some more for better ones.

Its tiny, and hardly has any variety outside of iceberg lettuce and tomatoes.

I lost 20 pounds in college. I use to look up the nutrition facts through the schools website or try my hardest to match it up. Plan ahead, they put the menus for the week ahead of time usually. I would work out 5 days a week. It didn't have to be any extensive. When it was too cold to walk to the gym, I would go up and down a more empty staircase. I would also write a schedule Sunday for the week for all school and activities and put my work outs in where they could fit. Sometimes I had to cut back. Buy some healthy snack, fruits and hummus.
