Couch to 5K (C25k) and then Bridge to 10K (B210K), at least that's my plan and it's working so far. I'm over half way done with C25K.

I"m training for a half marathon now, too. I'm hoping to do one this fall around sept or oct. Best of luck with your training!0

Try active.com. They have a lot of good advice about running and training programs. Good luck!0

I haven't followed a specific program just been going for regular run's and extending the distance. I managed 7.3 miles today so half way there...
Good luck :-)

another, great option is halhigdon.com. his training programs got me through my first 5K, 10K, 12K and half Marathon.
best of luck!0 -
I'm running my first half on Aug. 20. I'm using Hal Hidgon. Do a google search for him and you will find all sorts of training programs that are easy to follow. I also suggest taking a one minute walking break for every 4-5 minutes of running as you start out. Good luck.0

Thanks everyone! All the races in Tampa aren't until the winter time since the heat is so gruesome! But I'm going to start my training this week and see where it takes me!0

Hey there . . I train and race in Orlando !
You can google 1/2 Marathon training plans and find a ton of them out there. Best things is to find one to use a guide, and then base your workouts off it. Some other good sites are Runners World, Beginnertriathlete.com, and search training Peaks, they usually have a bunch of plans.
Some will charge, some will not, there are plenty of free ones out there!
Good Luck!

Hal Higdon it is, looked up his plans and he is great! Starting with an 8k plan and the half marathon is in March, that's plenty of time to build up I think. Ready to start!0

There's a bunch of programs available. If you have an i-phone, check out the apps. I started with Couch to 10k (c210k) which is just like c25k, but shoots for a 10k in 13 weeks. I'm now moving on to half marathon training. I've heard Hal Higdon is great, but I'm cheap and his half marathon app is $14.99 (most are $2!).0

Hey I'm cheap too, definitely not purchasing his app. Just using the site, the plan is free http://www.halhigdon.com/8K/8kint8.htm
Unfortunately I don't have an iphone, I did buy the Nike + chip though for my ipod that I plan on using it for training. Thanks for the advice!0
